The BMX Keychain

A scaled down version of an old school BMX seat clamp. Custom machined in the USA.

Nobody looked cooler than the kids at the skate park with their BMX bikes, pulling wheelies and somehow defying the laws of gravity. You saved up for months doing chores to get a bike of your own, just to be admitted as a part of the BMX family. Whether you were one of the kids with the skills to race or you just enjoyed the feel of the fresh air on your face as you sped down the block, Bicycle Motorcross was a cherished part of your youth.

Rising in popularity during the 1970s and 80s, the BMX bike became a symbol of freedom for youth both in the United States and around the world. As years passed, the tricks associated with Bicycle Motorcross became less of a hobby than a sport that involved dedicated skill, relentless practice, the possibility of severe dangers, yet so much opportunity. Stores filled up with BMX gear and professional teams competed to crowds of worshiping fans.                          

We may no longer have that treasured bike sitting in our garage waiting for our next adventure.  But a craftsman with a small one-person shop in Northern California has designed the ability to take those memories with us with his miniaturized replica of the Seat Post Clamp.

This seat post replica, made from aircraft grade aluminum can be carried with you every day as a keychain or left as a symbol of your childhood on your desk. It’s a practical, functional, and marvelous design that allows us to continue to let our childhood memories spark curiosity and adventure in our adult lives.
