We are 32 Square- a design and fabrication shop based out of Brooklyn, NY. We want to build you some dinosaurs!
Let's get to know each other. 32 Square = 32 square feet = 1 standard sheet of 4’ x 8’ material. We design custom furniture, props, and installations for the arts and entertainment industry using the idea of maximum production with minimum waste as a guiding aesthetic. From modular objects to custom décor built from repurposed offcuts, we are design one sheet at a time. You can see completed projects by our fabrication shop

Our newest project: Our designers and crew grew up with hands-on toys. From erector sets to capsella to LEGO, all of our favorite things involved the joy of putting something together. We have been developing a series of designs based on the punch-out balsa wood dinosaur puzzles we had as kids, but updated with bright and exciting materials, intuitive assembly, and a massive increase in scale. The balsa puzzles were a joy to put together, but the final product was always a bit of a letdown- we want to make design objects that are as sturdy and visually interesting as the dinosaurs that inspire them.

We just completed a successful Kickstarter campaign (over 500% funded!) and have used our first crowdfunding adventure to give our Boneyard Pets a facelift. We are proud to bring you new dinosaurs, more environmentally friendly material, and streamlined production. We thought we would give everyone who missed our first campaign a chance to own their very own dinosaur!

Right now we have 5 Boneyard Pets ready for production, offered in 2 material choices with 4 colors and 2 sizes per material, for a total of 80 possible combinations!
Materials and colors:
Each dinosaur comes in the color of your choice and can be made of 1/8" acrylic, 1/4" acrylic, 1/4" laminated birch, or 3/8" laminated birch.

A $5 pledge will get you a postcard. We will send you a high quality 5" x 7" print inspired by the CNC files we use to make our dinosaurs.

A $50 pledge will get you a hand made LED lightbox built using the birch and acrylic offcuts that accumulate from our Boneyard Pets. We love to recycle at 32 Square, especially when we can make something fun out of our bits and pieces. Since these will be made using scraps, no two will be alike!

Production timeline:
September: preproduction, supplies ordered, labor booked
October: production- beginning with the smallest acrylics and ending with largest birch, the Boneyard Pets will hit the CNC machine
November: packing and shipping. Boneyard Pets are released into the wild!

Risks and Challenges:
The transition from production prototype to mass market product is always a challenge. We have worked hard to ensure that the process will go as smoothly as possible.
All of the cutting, assembly, packaging, and shipping associated with this project will be handled onsite using our own equipment and labor. We have attempted to consolidate the supply chain as much as we can.
Our raw material (acrylic, lumber, and shipping boxes) all come from local vendors. We have had no trouble with inventory availability, but we have sourced several other vendors close to NYC should the unexpected happen.
