This is BOOKER, a high-fashion contemporary collection based in New York City. Conceived in 2012 by me, Jameelah Booker, BOOKER aims to be the high-fashion brand that expresses a woman’s personal power through timeless, sleek design and wearable function. Through design, BOOKER wants to inspire your unique edge…and set it free.

Why now? BOOKER was inspired by the passion that motorcycle culture ignites in my life. A marriage of what I love to do and what I love to wear. Now, BOOKER is proudly growing into a new phase. On the heels of growing industry buzz, I’m looking to expand.

BOOKER from a brand that offers only jackets and pants to a full ready to wear collection, unleashing the wild side in every woman. Clean lines, a timeless color palette, and a versatile modern fit that make women feel confident and free. 

The inspiration for my collection are real-life women I’ve met along my journey. I call them “The Wild Ones.” Transformed by their passions and raw ambitions, these girls have conquered and thrived in their own “jungle” of personal challenges and growth.

Some Things You Should Know About BOOKER:

Locally Manufactured. I believe in the importance of locally sourced manufacturing in order to have complete control in the production and quality of each collection, and to oversee the precise details of each jacket made. Because of this, the price point may be higher, but the quality is that of the meticulously crafted vintage jackets of yesterday.

Quality leather jackets, hand crafted with the finest materials. I use the best available cow, deer, and lamb skins the market has to offer, and hand pick every skin to make sure my customer is getting the highest grade of leather. These are premium jackets that will get better with age.

Over 13 Years of Experience In the Fashion Industry:

I’ve dreamed of turning my passion for fashion into a career since I was a teenager, making my own clothes in South Central LA. A year after being accepted into the undergrad program at Otis Parsons College, I knew that I wanted to be right in the middle of where fashion lived, New York City. At the age of 19, with just a few dollars in my pocket, I headed East. Once in New York City, I moved up the fashion food chain quickly: starting first in retail while packing boxes for free at an established brand, then moving all the way up to the Creative Director of their international branch, working in Italy and China.

Since then, I’ve gained a uniquely well rounded knowledge of fashion design and development by working for some of today's leading fashion brands - from men's and women's to missy and juniors, specializing in denim development and outerwear.

Founder and designer, Jameelah Booker, has worked in Fashion as a designer 

and brand developer in New York City since 2001. Her industry experience, technical ability and personal connection to the best sample rooms, trim supplies and fabric specialists gives her the craftsmanship to create garments that are beautiful, practical, and promotes empowerment and inspired living.

John & Joan, owners of JJ patterns, have more than 30 years of experience developing high end goods for leading NYC fashion designers 

such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Helmet Lang, The Row, Takoon and Rebecca Minkoff. JJ patterns has been with BOOKER from the beginning, working closely with a skillful team of pattern makers, cutters, and seamstresses to ensure the impeccable quality of each BOOKER jacket. 

Visual Director: 

Teddy Telles is an independent photographer and videographer, known for his technical precision and ability to translate ideas into striking imagery. Whether creating editorials, interviews, look books or portraits, Teddy's videos are alive with dynamic camera movement and still narratives. Having experience working on large scale campaigns throughout the U.S., as well as partnering with the design firm "Nothing Something," Teddy thrives on multi-faceted collaborations.
