BORN BEN Documentary
Born Ben is a documentary that shines light on what it’s like to be born into society with a disability.
The film blossomed from a short interview that was too good to not make into a film. We want to show the world that people with disabilities do have many challenges but one of their biggest is that too often they are pushed aside or ignored.
The film Born Ben is film about my best friend Ben. Ben's dream is to be the first mens college basketball coach with cerebral palsy. The film is a retelling of Ben's incredible life up until now. We learn what it was like to grow up and realize that you're different from everyone you know all the while enduring painful life changing surgeries to help your condition. The film retells key moments in Ben’s life like becoming Valedictorian of his university and turning his school’s basketball program around. Everything comes to a climax when after years of being dismissed and overcoming adversity he finally gets an opportunity to work with Jim Calhoun - one of the greatest college basketball coaches of our time. Ben's story is unique, touching and painful all at the same time, and one that must be told.
Now more than ever we need to finish this film to inspire not only others with disabilities but everyone that needs strength and hope to push through adversity.
Please share this as far and as wide as possible because we hope that it can reach every person that has felt as though they do not fit in or belong.
Thank You!
Risks and challenges
We have worked for the last 3 years because we know that Ben’s story like many others is one that must be told. We just need your help is this last leg of the process. The money you donate now will help us finish post production on the film, travel costs, our premiere, equipment fees, and pay for the costs of submitting to film festivals.
Every dollar you spend will go directly to the film and anything extra will go towards pushing our message and story to as many outlets and platforms as we can get ourselves into.
After finishing our Kickstarter we plan to:
Picture Lock - September 2019
Sound & Mix - October 2019
Color and Post - November 2019
Begin Submitting for Festivals - 2020
Time is against us with this film but we hope that this funding can help us bring on an amazing team of composers, designers and artists to complete the film the way it deserves to be finished.
