What is Bounty?
Bounty hunters, Rosa and Claudine have finally tracked their bounty to its final location. The infamous couple arrives in the small Missouri town by train and wastes no time tracking down the killer, Victor, to an old tunnel. As they are making the choice of taking him in hot or cold they learn Victor knows something they don't and change the course of their lives.
Howdy!
I'm Hope Daugherty and I'm a senior Digital Filmmaking major at Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Bounty is my senior capstone project and a passion project for me. As someone who has a love for both the LGBTQIA+ community that I am a part of and love for the western film genre, I found that a mix of the two only exists in books and texts. When I started writing the script for Bounty I knew I wanted to fill this gap and make an exciting and heartwarming lesbian western.
Why make this film?
I saw a gap in the mix of queer and western genres on screen. Here's what I found:
- I noticed there is a lack of lesbian films showing women already in love. This isn't a story about falling in love, forbidden love, or a breakup, it's love sustaining while a story unfolds around them.
- The Western genre is riddled with racism, sexism, and all kind of bad “isms”. I hope this film helps move the long-standing Western genre into the present, but still keep the positive qualities of sweeping landscapes and cowboy outfits that so many enjoy, just like me.

What We Need & What You Get
The goal for the film is $3,000 and here's what the funds will go to:

Art Direction: This is a period piece set at the beginning of the 20th century and we need to make sure our characters clothes and props reflect this time period. We need the best cowboy hats and canteens.

Craft Services: The cast and crew need to stay energized, so a portion of the budget goes to food and drinks. Get a cookie stat!

Cast & Crew: The wonderful and most talented cast and crew should be awarded for thier hard work and time. Couldn't do it without them.

Misc: This film will be shot outside in the summer and any additional funds will go to keeping cast and crew safe from the sun and heat. Like many creative projects, there can be unseen costs and problems that may arise. A portion of our budget will help derail any issues that arrise.
