Who and Why?
Hello, my name is Ronald Kern and I am reaching out to help a courageous and wonderful young lady in need, Emily Bridges. My wife and I operate the Kern Ministry Foundation, along with the Roatan Christian Outreach Ministry, and feel Emily, and her family, would benefit greatly. Emily's story was so compelling that it will also be the focus of my next column in Christian Living Magazine, as well as our next broadcast of our radio show, "The Brighter Side."
So you know where our heart is, our purpose and intent for this fundraising campaign, and for your comfort level, please visit the above links or contact me directly, anytime.
Through a local fundraising campaign earlier this year (by Emily's friend), enough money was raised to pay her way to California which allowed her to have her brain tumor removed, which was just a few months ago. Unfortunately, this didn't end her constant agony with severe migraines.
She is leaving this month for California again, for another intense treatment (DHE) to hopefully rid her of these daily intense migraine headaches she continues to endure every single hour of every single day. The funds raised here, will offset travel costs as well as go toward the balance of the many other medical bills.
Emily
Emily started experiencing headaches, not feeling well, and vision issues December of 2013. Since then, she has had 2 brain surgeries (one removed a tumor that was tangled within her optic nerve, 9 MRI's, over 15 trips to the emergency room, and currently takes 32 medications every day. She has suffered partial vision loss in her right eye that she may never get back, and has an "8" out of 10 on the pain scale all of the time regarding her headaches.
She wasn't able to finish her Junior year of High School, and likely won't be able to attend her Senior year either. She has lost out on doing much of anything other than just "survive" and try to manage her pain, which hasn't been an easy walk for the last year.
We are hopeful the DHE treatment will cure the headaches, but either way the costs continue to pile up and we'd like to help offset the medical bills and this trip, the thrust of this fundraiser.
Her immediate goals if her headaches are cured, is to go to actually go to church and pray, ride her horse (Emily was very involved with rodeo and barrel racing), and just to sit down without any form of a headache or pain in her head.
Other Ways You Can Help
- If you can't contribute financially, please pray for Emily and ask for her migraines to cease, the procedure to be a success, and that her recovery is as comfortable and painfree as possible.
- Share this cause with others, and spread the word with your social networks, word of mouth, etc. You never know, one person could truly make the difference.
- Send me an email (ronaldkern@me.com) or letter of encouragement and I'll get them to her immediately. When you show support, it's a great way to lift ones spirits and assist with the healing process.
I personally want to thank you for taking time out to read this, contribute, and or sharing this with others, it's sincerely appreciated.
