WHY WE ARE MAKING THIS FILM?
Breaking Free is a story that needs to be told, by both well known and local actors. A story of hope to show that no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, you can fulfill your dreams. Christopher was diagnosed with hyperactivity, speech problems and lack of co-ordination and although he rebelled, against all the odds he managed to break free from the vicious circle that entangled him. The actors are willing, locations are prepared, props can be sourced, makeup applied, and the crew is ready to go. All we need now is to actually PAY for all of this.
The £50.000 would enable us complete our first step in bringing the film to the big screen, to cover cast, catering, insurance, crew and transport .
Over the last two years we have seen how much can be done by working together to achieve our teaser. Help us reach our target and let's see Breaking Free on the big screen, something that we can all be proud of.
Chris Vogler the acclaimed Hollywood scriptwriter who worked for Disney, Warner Brothers, Fox etc teaches that we need to touch several emotions to make a story enthralling. That the lead character must have hardship and tests that he/she overcomes. There must be tension and the audience has to be able to identify with one or more of the characters. This story has all that and more as our lead character triumphs over adversity.
From the beginning, though in a loving family, Christopher was badly educated, turned to petty crime, fights and drugs, was abused and marginalized. Later he turned his life around and against great competition gained entry to drama schools and has reached his goal which was to become an actor.
This is a story that needs to be told.

BREAKING FREE FILM SYNOPSIS
Breaking Free is based on the true story of Christopher Lee Power. As a small child
Christopher and his siblings where upstairs in their Rock Ferry home as a
family friend was murdered in the hallway below. As the victim breathed his
very last breath, little Christopher’s life was turned upside down and inside
out.
The Power family left
to start a new life elsewhere in a plight to escape the shackles of trauma, but
it was exactly that move that had launched Christopher into turmoil, torn between
his intelligent conscience and the gritty reality of life on a council estate
in the 1980′s.
Caught up in a life
of petty crime and gambling, fuelled by relentless drinking and solvent abuse
from a painfully young age, this once-pure child suffered harrowing
consequences at the hands of corruption.
Bound in a straight
jacket at six years old due to his anger issues, hyperactivity, and speech
problems this was just the beginning for Christopher. His childhood in
the 1980’s developed into a cycle of running riot with a local teenage
gang and falling foul of the law. Eventually serving time at
a young offender’s institute, and later in a Remand Prison. During his time in
prison Christopher Power had a moment that would change his life forever…
