Despite the past 15 years of global efforts in improving air quality, the pollution levels still exceeds WHO’s recommendations. In 2016, 92% of the world population lived in places with high concentration of air pollution. Air pollution caused around 6 million premature deaths both indoors and outdoors. 

The most researched primary pollutants are: particulate matter (PM 10 and 2.5), sulfur dioxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide. Amongst them, PM 10 and PM 2.5 are considered the most hazardous for humans.

The main issue with these particles is that they are so tiny that they can penetrate deep inside the lungs and blood vessels. Not only can they cause irritations, inflammation and asthma during short and long term exposures, but they can also contribute to the risk of developing cardiovascular, respiratory diseases and lung cancer if under chronic exposures, even at a low concentration.

Everyday we reflexively cover our nose and wave our hands to clear the air when passing by the bus’ black smog or a sea of motorcycles. Sadly, this will not improve the air quality. There should be a more personal and effective answer. 

We decided to take action by creating a smart anti-pollution mask. With all the choices in the market, it is still very hard to find both very protective and comfortable mask, not to mention the looks of one wearing a mask. Our mask can be worn at anytime and anywhere with confidence and comfort. Breaze attempts to embody a refreshing breeze with every breath you take.

Our filters have been passed through the lab test by Nelson Laboratories, the authoritative organization in USA. The average filtration efficiency of the filter in 0.3µm are more than 99.99%. It able to filter out the PM10 and PM2.5 particle as well. 

Your face is part of your identity. Breaze wants people to recognize you, even while wearing a mask. The middle part of Breaze uses a transparent hard plastic material to display your lovely smile.

The hard plastic creates a three dimensional curved space. This space diminishes the mask from rubbing your face and allows you to speak freely.

The part of the mask that touches your face is composed of soft and flexible silicone material, enhancing the wearability. Breaze also has an adjustable strap which allows the mask to be suitable for anyone to wear.

We are Minfu, a group of designers, industrial designers and engineers in Taipei. We come from different industries but we are all concerned about the same issue: the air we are currently breathing.

It’s our daily life to cover nose from dust and smoke. So we decided to take action by creating a modern and anti-pollution mask.

We founded Minfu in 2015. It wasn’t easy at the beginning, things became more difficult than we ever imaged. But that didn’t bring us down, we still work hard day by day. Within all team members’ support, we’re able to finish the development. We can’t wait to see the smile of wearing it, not only us but you.

Manufacturing this kind product requires a lot of patience since many component and regulation are at hand. That is why we are often making some adjustments to our prototype to be efficient, regulation compliant and have a nice look at the same time which is also our main difficulty.

As a new product in market, finding a manufacturer who can meet our requirements is more challenging than we thought.

However, we are confident in our ability to deliver a high quality product. We finished the mock up version and made our prototype. Now we are ready to take the next step.
