Short Summary
We are a 5 person production company made up of Film &Television
Production students at York St. John University and this is our very first
important film - so we want to make it as well as we can.
Brian Cooke started as a photographer shooting the last days of steam
locomotion in North East England. He eventually moved on to capturing intimate
images of some of the most prolific musicians in the world including Blondie
and The Sex Pistols.
We want to show people Brian's life in 10 minutes simply because of how
interesting we have found it in the time we have got to know him. We want to
create something cinematic that we can be proud of and that Brian can
appreciate as such a successful photographer.
What We Need & What You Get
We are asking for £500 which is a lot of money for a few students.
Luckily our university provides professional equipment and software. We
will be shooting on a Canon C100 and editing on Avid.
Unfortunately they do not provide travel expenses, the rights to use
audio, pay for original scores or the entry fees into film festivals. Which is
where you come in.
We don't expect something for nothing but being on such a little scale
as we are, we can only offer small tokens of appreciation which you can see at
the right of this page.
We know the goal pledge is a large sum of money - if it isn't reached
then we wont be able to make the film we really want, but nothing will go to
waste. As students we know how to make a little go a long way!
The Impact
Whether you’re interested in photography, music, trains, or even just
nice films then this project is for you. We may not change the world but with
your help we can create something that is aesthetically pleasing and plainly
interesting.
Risks & Challenges
We’ve been training in Film Production at university level for around 18
months now, and some of us started our film education years before this.
However, we are only beginning our careers as filmmakers so there are plenty of
obstacles before us.
We have time restrictions that we hope to overcome through fine tuning
our professional process. Our main challenge is financial. We are fully
invested in this film and though poor are all prepared to contribute our own
money to help make the film we want.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know that times are hard for everyone and even if you can’t pledge
you can still help!
Tell people you know about that great campaign you saw online and
they might decide that we’re worth a few minutes of their time – maybe even a
few pounds!
Help us get the word out about the film we want to make. Use the
Indiegogo share tools and tell your friends about us. Anything you can do for
us would help us more than you know.
