The Bridg’d Story
In our world, communication barriers naturally exist between individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impediments and the rest of the community. Not having the ability to receive and respond to verbal speech directly isolates them from society. They feel left out and excluded. This community has long relied on alternative methods of communication such as texting, lip-reading, or the use of interpreters. But these methods can be inconvenient and can cause miscommunication and frustration.
Thanks to today’s technology, Bridg’d Communications is making it possible to span the communication barriers between both parties in a way that is even easier and more efficient than ever, minimizing frustration and fostering greater understanding and satisfaction. Welcome to the Bridg’d mobile app.
How does the Bridg’d app work?
By combining speech transcription and text-to-speech technology in a single, easy-to-use mobile app. Bridg’d aims to “remove the middleman” and enable both parties to communicate directly with each other and have their words both received and understood.
How Bridg’d works is that the user would type what they want to say using the app towards the speaker on the app. At the push of a button, the typed words are converted into verbal speech directed towards the speaker. The speaker would in turn reply verbally in verbal speech, and the Bridg’d app would pick it up and convert it into text that the user is able to read on the device screen. This can be performed back and forth in real-time as if they were carrying on a regular conversation and appears like a familiar messaging conversation.
Users can access the Bridg’d app in a variety of situations where communication is required, such as a doctor’s appointment, job interview, a dental or medical procedure, interacting with police officers and first responders, placing an order in a restaurant, or even just to say “excuse me” to someone standing in front of you in a grocery store.
With the ability to record and save conversations, Bridg’d can even be used in academic settings, such as recording lectures, taking notes, participating in study groups, and working with tutors.
Our Team
Bridg’d is co-founded by Zack Tritsch and Todd Tritsch, with the support of a dedicated app development team. Zack is profoundly deaf and has been his whole life, which gives him a unique perspective on how to help the Deaf community. His father, Todd, also understood the importance of open communication at home and worked hard to learn American Sign Language and gain a deeper understanding of Deaf culture. We want to share the opportunity of open communication with the whole world, and Bridg’d is a tool to help realize that vision.
Zack has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of the People, and Todd has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University.
