One morning Nate Keller arrives at his job at The Lighting Store, the only job he's ever known, and discovers that Joe, the owner, is months behind on the mortgage and faces foreclosure. The news sends Nate and his co-worker, and best friend, Sean into a spiral of misguided urgency to save their second home. Adding insult to injury, this fuels Nate's girlfriend, Lauren, to persistently nag him to grow up and leave everything behind to take a corporate job for her father. As the foreclosure looms like a ticking time bomb of failure, a disgruntled former employee and Nate's high school rival, Derek, swoops in and makes a bid on the store to buy it and fire everyone, turning it into an outlet for the local mega-chain Depot Warehouse. With their lives hanging in the balance, a slight glimmer of hope appears in the form of a kind bank loan officer in charge of the case, who is none other than Nate's childhood crush, Julianne. In the ultimate underdog story, Nate and Sean man-up on a series of misadventures of desperation and unrelenting hope to stop change from ruining their lives and friendship.
Filled with testosterone-fueled hi-jinks and unrequited love triangles, "Bright Ideas" takes you on a journey to leave change in the dust, and settle down into the familiar, lovable rut we call life.
Our Extremely talented writer and director, Ronn Head, has lead the cast and crew along an amazing journey creating this film. He has produced on shows like “Dancing with the Stars”, “The Great Food Truck Race”, along with many others.
It was clear that the demand for “Bright Ideas” to become a full-length feature film was abundant. Now, we have turned to crowd funding for an all out campaign to expand our film. Our current short film is full of wild and crazy antics with lots of comedy and romance. We are currently seeking to hire a few “name” actors to add to our talented list and expand this short film into a feature film.
Our goal is set at $25,000, and this is where you can come in. Your contributions will go to a variety of departments including, equipment rental, locations, food for our amazing actors, our actors themselves etc… and will ensure the completion of our comedy in Houston, TX. We truly believe in our film and are excited to complete it and get it out into the world.
We are offering some great and unique perks in exchange for your contributions, including signed DVD’s, t-shirts, posters, light bulb oil lamps and IMDB credits for associate and executive producers. Any and all perks will be delivered at the end of May/beginning of June as our production begins. Please be patient with the DVD’s as post-production has to complete before they can be sent out. We will keep you updated on the progress of the film and perks.
Our project rests in your hand, so please share this project with your friends and family through Facebook, Twitter, word of mouth and any other means of communication! A lot of people don’t even know about this site and the more you can do to get it noticed will not only help us, but others as well. We understand that you are our biggest assets and appreciate all of your support! Thank you!
“Bright Ideas” is a project that I’m extremely proud of, and I feel honored to be able to share it with you. Over the past year, working on this movie has completely changed my life. There is no greater feeling than seeing your vision on screen.
“Bright Ideas” is a concept that began over five years ago. Before I became a successful producer, I was a fan of the movies; particularly movies that have heart and make you feel something. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I was a big fan of comedies such as “The Breakfast Club”, “Clerks”, “Mallrats”, and “Empire Records”, I felt those kinds of stories just aren’t being told anymore. That’s where “Bright Ideas” came from.
Production on “Bright Ideas” began in January of 2011. Originally thought as a short film, I learned early on was that the story was so much larger than what a short film would allow.
We are currently slated to resume production and complete “Bright Ideas” in May/June of 2013. I am currently seeking an investor or investors who are interested in not only being apart of the project, but also part of the process. To me, and my crew, making this movie has been some of the most fun we’ve had in our lives, and we’ve accomplished as much or more in our days of shooting than a movie with 15 times the budget.
