The Impact
Director's Note: Why This Film Needs to be made, and made well
Senior Citizens are a demographic and audience that our current younger generation abhorrently ignores. In this fast-paced, narcissistic age, I truly believe that we can learn about value, respect, and honor from our elders. As far as entertainment material for Senior Citizens, there is barely anything out there that caters to their tastes and nostalgia. All the re-makes of Superman, Spiderman, and even the Green Hornet, aren't throw-backs for old times sake, but big commercial blow-out Blockbusters with high priced actors and impressive special effects, purposely designed to bring in as much money as possible. Most of the elderly people I know can barely even afford $12-15 to go to these films anyhow, so they are content to sit at home and watch TCM, and dream of a happier time when you could see two movies for a quarter.
The simplicity and whole-hearted goodness of the old days is dying away with our past generations, and I believe that this film forces the observer, young and old alike, to slow down, take a breath, and spend some time with a different generation. To hear their stories, see their struggles, understand who they are, the era they grew up in, and celebrate a life they once knew through the movies they love. In addition, the watchers of this film will also learn a great deal about film history, film preservation, the progression of commercial film and animation, old movie theaters, film projectors, silent films, and theater organs.
It has been an utter joy for me to get to know these special gentleman, their talents, their stories, their struggles and their hearts. Please help me share their story with the world, so that the younger generations can look at our elders (and Hollywood) through a different lens.
RISKS & CHALLENGES: Other Ways to Help
The biggest challenges we face right now are time and money. We are facing a wall of November deadlines for film festivals. It is vital that our film has funding so we can meet these deadlines. Since we are running on fumes financially, really need your support and will even be grateful for the smallest pledge amount. If you can't donate to our Campaign, please feel free to share this Link with all your friends and family.
Once our movie is sent out to the festivals, we play the waiting game to see who has accepted it into their Feature Documentary Category. With your help, we can get this film out there and hope for the best.
