ABOUT BUCK'S
Buck's is a new web series, written and produced by Molly Faber and Austin Calam. It follows a group of small town baristas in the Midwest, where hijinks abound and coffee is taken a little... okay, WAY too seriously. Your donation will help us pay for the production costs, location rental, wardrobe, and props.
WHO ARE WE?
Molly Faber is the creator of Buck's and will also be producing, directing, and acting in Buck's. She has an MFA in Acting as well as experience directing and coaching actors.
Austin Calam is a writer for Buck's and will also be producing, filming, and directing Buck's. He is a film maker with acting and directing experience.
This is Molly and Austin's first project of this magnitude, and they have big plans for it. By contributing, YOU will help make Buck's a reality!
WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING
Since the pandemic started, jobs for actors and filmmakers have become even more scarce than they were pre-pandemic. So we thought: why not make our own work? And thus Buck's was born!
However, filmmaking is... expensive. We have a clear and exciting vision for Buck's, but we can't make it happen on our own. That's why we need YOU!
Here's what your donation will go toward:
- Production Costs: This is our largest expense and includes all things needed to produce a film: lights, camera, action!
- Location Rental: good locations = a good looking web series
- Wardrobe, Props, Set Dressing: these details ensure that Buck's looks like... Buck's!
WHAT IF YOU EXCEED YOUR GOAL?
First of all, that would be AMAZING! Second, here's how we would use that money:
- Crew and Actor salaries: At this point, our amazing cast and crew are volunteers. Exceeding our goal would mean we could pay them for their time and hard work.
- Food for the Cast and Crew: A well fed cast and crew is a happy cast and crew!
- Festival Fees: We believe strongly in Buck's and our ability to make a great web series, SO we plan to enter Buck's into festivals. Unfortunately, entering things into festivals is not free.
WHY SUPPORT BUCK'S?
As we thought about what story we wanted to tell we realized that there isn't a show out there that tells the stories of baristas, and very few stories set in small towns. Both of us are from a small town and love a good cup of coffee. We also have both previously worked as baristas. It made sense that we would tell a story that we are familiar with, and we would love if you would help us get our story, crazy as it might be, out into the world!
Additionally, as creatives who are relatively new to this industry, it is so important to build a solid resume and have excellent material to show what we can do. Buck's would provide us this opportunity. Supporting Buck's would mean supporting the dreams of two (very cool) artists.
