Help the most-vulnerable-least-supported-communities
in Nepal in the aftermath of the 25th April earthquake in Nepal.
A devastating earthquake of
7.8 magnitude struck Nepal earthquake on Saturday, 25 April. Countless
aftershocks, that were major earthquakes by themselves, have followed and
continue to occur, risking further destruction. Over 7,000 people have
died and 500k displaced. An estimated 8 million people have been
affected.
The figures are rising each day as search and rescue teams begin to enter the more remote mountainous areas of Nepal where whole villages have been buried or flattened.
There is intense desperation and the scale of the
crisis is incomprehensible. But there is also immeasurable kindness, strength
and solidarity – something that has been rare in a country that has been mired
in war and spiteful divisive politics for the past 20 years.
WHO WILL GET YOUR HELP
Having carefully observed the initiatives taken up by
various organizations at different scales and areas, we have decided to raise
money for AYON (Association of Youth Organizations Nepal), an established local
youth group that has been working endlessly on the ground since Day 1. AYON has
been one of the most visible and forthcoming groups that have been delivering
both immediate relief and working on transitional and sustainable long-term
rebuilding efforts.
