We need your help so we can continue being the hands and feet of Jesus for our Mayan friends!
OUR GOAL: We must raise $7,000 to help fund our February 2014 mission trips.
WHO ARE WE? We are more than 30 members and friends of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL., volunteering in cooperation with the Yucatan Peninsula Mission in Leona Vicario, Quintana Roo, Mexico. For the past seven years, we have sent one team each year, each team comprising 12-15 members. Due to increased interest within our church community, and increased demand in the Yucatan, we are expanding to two teams. One team will focus on construction, while the other will split its time between construction and hands-on work with Mayan women and children in their villages.
WHY DO WE NEED HELP? Participation has more than doubled within the past year, which is a blessing. But that means we need to raise considerably more money to fund our trips. Each team member pays for his or her own air fare, while our mission committee raises the additional fee of about $550 per person. That’s where we need your help. About $200 of each member’s fee goes to purchase materials used for the project, while the remainder goes to pay for our housing, food, and considerable transportation costs in the Yucatan. Please note that we also pay for all of the materials used in all of the construction projects, due to the extreme poverty in the region.
OUR HISTORY: Since 2007, our church has sent a team to the Yucatan to help build churches and schools for Mayan and Mexican children and families. We have worked hand-in-hand with local Mayans in two tiny Mayan villages: Tres Reyes and, currently, Nuevo Durango. We also are helping to construct a much-needed school for the children of Leona Vicario.
WHERE WE LIVE AND WORK: We fly into Cancun and drive inland about 50 kilometers to the YPM facility in Leona Vicario. We are driven more than an hour each day to our worksite in the remote villages of central Yucatan. Mission teams such as ours built and currently maintain the YPM facilities, which can house and feed more than 50 people at a time.
God bless you. And mucho gracias from all of us!

If you select the T-Shirt perk, you will receive either a red or black t-shirt (your choice) with this logo on the front.
HammockThis is an example of the authentic mexican hammock that you can receive. It's plenty long for most people, and is even great for sleeping. Many say it's better and much cooler than a bed, which makes it great for the hotter months.
