The Creators

Burn Out was written by Samiyah Wardlaw and Jane Cammisa. They are both recent college graduates from Drexel University and native Philadelphians. Samiyah and Jane are the co-writers and co-executive producers, and Samiyah is the director. This film was birthed out of their love for romance movies and coming of age stories! They have been working very hard alongside their Associate Producers Natalie Thornton, Sophia Palmisano and Kyra Lally to bring their vision to life!             

About This Film 

Can you think of any films that take place right after college? Were you dealing with a lot of angst and uncertainty about the future? We wanted to capture that time in people's lives, and it's a feeling that all of the people on our team relate to! We believe that people will be able to relate to this film and that it sends a strong message about finding yourself and the effects of burnout. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal and bring us one step closer to being able to finish the film! 

Our Ask 

To complete this movie we need to raise $20,000. The funding will go towards paying and feeding our cast and crew, as well as set design, props and wardrobe. Equipment rentals, insurance, transportation and gas will also be taken care of out of the budget. 

The remainder of the budget after filming is complete will go towards paying our post production crew, which includes editors, colorists and sound mixers.

The Impact

It is a heartwarming, independent film created in a time where people are consuming media relating to coming-of age stories and romances. There are not many movie options that take the audience to those first few months after graduating college. Our film is Say Anything meets The Spectacular Now. This film also deals with "burnout culture", a problem that is effecting many people around the world. While this story is a work of fiction, our personal experiences have inspired this film. Burn Out will not only be an entertaining film, but a needed film for upcoming graduates and beyond! Recent college graduates will really be able to relate to this story and it will also be helpful to those approaching that milestone, but it doesn't just stop at our college bubble. We plan on entering this film into festivals and sharing this film so that we can get our message out there! 

Risks & Challenges

There are always risks when making a film; we know that time will be one of our biggest challenges because we have a tight schedule to follow and sometimes things don't go as planned.  We have been working diligently on the necessary pre-production  steps to make this film a reality to ensure that when filming it, we are extremely well prepared and can keep things under control/on schedule. 

The Team 

Everyone working on this team has had success in their areas of specialty working on short films, music videos and more! Our 15 person team has a combined experience working on over 100 film projects in the past few years! We all have a lot of experience under our belt making films on a slightly smaller level, and we are ready to take on the challenge of making our first feature film. 

Everyone on this team is extremely dedicated to this project and has already put in more than 5 months of time in pre-production to prepare and get us to the point we are at now! We have all put in an enormous amount of love and commitment in order to see this project through! 

We know that making a feature film is no easy feat, and that we will continue to face many challenges as we move forward. Despite the challenge of reaching our fundraising goal, while also carrying out this project and creating the best product possible, we feel very confident that we will succeed.

The team behind Burn Out is consists of people who are extremely talented and also very hard working. We have faced many challenges in the past while creating the 100+ films we have all worked on, and that has made us stronger and more equipped to handle challenges that come our way.
