Overview
Burning my Tongue puts you in the head of Tania, a gender non-conforming lesbian, as she tries to figure out if the waitress is flirting or just doing her job. This story brings out the added complexity and comedy that comes with trying to date when you're LGBTQ; especially if you're trying to date outside of apps and gay bars.

Short Summary

Hi, I'm Murph. I'm a filmmaker and a member of the LGBTQ community.

Lack of LGBTQ characters:  We need more gay, lesbian, trans, and gender non-conforming characters. When I was younger, I used to watch "Ru Paul’s Drag Race" and "The L Word" in my bedroom with the door locked. The volume was one notch above mute, and my finger was on the remote ready to change the channel - just in case somebody came upstairs. I spent so much time flipping through channels and searching the Internet for characters that I could relate to, and that was alienating. As a storyteller, I want to give voices to LGBTQ characters in the hopes that queer kids won’t have to search as hard for characters that they can relate and feel a sense of affirmation.

Love and dating are human emotions and experiences: Burning My Tongue is a small anecdotal piece showcasing that LGBTQ relationships are just as endearing/relatable/awkward as straight/cis ones. It’s just two humans trying to figure it out.

What We Need & What You Get

Here's a quick rundown of where this budget will go.

We have already invested a lot of time into this, and our crew is willing to volunteer our time and resources to get this done. We are looking for funding to help with production expenses and distribution.

Production Expenses:

Casting - A good portion of this budget will go towards hiring talented actresses, our first effort will be to hire from the LGBTQ community.

Crew/Gear - We want this story to look and feel authentic and cinematic. We will be reaching out to other talented crew members and rental houses in the community to help us take this to the next level.

Strategy/Distribution:

Submission Fees - This story will resonate with a lot of people. We want to make sure that as many people as possible can see this story and our characters. So, we will be submitting this to a bunch of film festivals, and a good portion of our budget is dedicated to covering that cost.

Screenings - We would  love to host a community event (perhaps in collaboration with local LGBTQ establishments) where we screen the film followed by a Q&A or a Drag Show or something fabulous.
