Plot Summary
This documentary features Sarah-Quita Offringa.
A 23 year old apparently happy-go-lucky windsurfer who hails from Aruba.
She started windsurfing when she was nine.
Today, at 23 years she has become a household name on the professional windsurfing circuit and has accumulated 9 back to back world titles. In the meantime she has also moved to Holland and obtained a bachelor's degree in science. Mostly known for her freestyle prowess as - she hasn't lost a single freestyle heat nor competition since 2008- she has now set her sights on competing in all disciplines -Slalom, freestyle and waves- of the Professional Windsurfing Association's tour. This is no easy feat as most windsurfers only focus on one discipline.
This will be a first to have a female protagonist in a windsurfing movie. Furthermore in this documentary instead of focusing on pure windsurfing action. We rather shed light on the lifestyle of a professional windsurfer. Which typically involves travelling the world, training, finding new spots and coming in contact with new cultures.
In this documentary we follow Sarah-Quita on her travels in 2015. We'll follow her as she ventures out into the world exploring new destinations and meeting new people. We'll also see how she prepares for the upcoming competition season as well as how she is coming along competing in all three disciplines on tour.
Filming locations
In Australia we see her face extreme heat and see how she handles the outdoors as she drives and camps up and down the West coast with friends in search of waves.
Having been brought up in the Caribbean, Sarah-Quita is used to sunshine and wearing bikini's. We challenged her by taking her to the Nordic cold of Iceland.
Explore the breathtaking landscape of Iceland with her and see whether she's able to get in her wetsuit and defy the cold water.
Aruba is where Sarah-Quita grew up and developed her windsurfing skills.
This island is blessed with trade winds, turquoise water and makes for a world class location to practice.
On our trip to her home she explains why she loves the island so much and needs to go back to her family every now and then.
Finally we'll follow her on her yearly tour in the Canary Islands and Turkey as she competes in freestyle, wave and slalom events.
What We Need
We've filmed the biggest part of the movie thanks to the financial support received from the Aruban Tourism Authority and Guardian Group Fatum. However we are still looking for funds to cover the last stage of our project.
The last phase of our project is filming Sarah-Quita's competitions in the Canary islands and Turkey from July through August. After this it's time to edit the movie. Our goal is to premiere the movie at the PWA world cup in Germany, Sylt on the 2nd of October 2015.
In order to get it done by then we're going to need some extra help from our editing friends. This is where your help comes in! With your contribution we'll be able to finish this project on time.
Your Reward
By supporting us here we offer you:
