Hi, My name is Jack Avon, you will likely see from my online profiles that I have done many things, worked in finance, played competitive sports, written books amongst others. What you may not see is that I have always been an avid photographer all my life, and self confessed gadget guy. I love electronic compenants, I like cameras, I like mobile phones. Now I have become an electronics technician and decided to start my own business fixing standalone cameras and also mobile phones from all systems. So I get to do all the stuff I love, whilst making sure I do something for people.
This campaign is so important to me because it signals the final change and completion of my life aims. Which is be involved in fixing stuff like camera and phones, and to work with people all around the world giving them something they may have felt they lost. Having the commercial, financial and technical experience to run such a business is fine, but I will need to establish a working physical workshop which needs to be equipped with the repair and testing tools.

I am looking for £57,000 in funding, the breakdown of wish is below:
- Purchase of workshop and studio - £32,000
- Renovations and custimisation of workshop - £5,000
- Testing and reapir tools - £4,000
- Acquire Manufacturers Service Adjustment software & licences (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Leica, Sony, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Samsung, Apple, Hauwei, Motorola) = 80 Items & $200 Per item - $16,000
In return I am giving some perks to those who can fund at various levels based on repair free of 1 camera and 1 phone for the individual and 2 names people. The perks will start with:

If I dont reach the total goal, the funds will go toward the most urgent need which is the workshop.
The Impact
The mobile phone is the most verstaile and high valued item carried on the person in the world, and is the dominant means of communications and access to the world for more than 3 billion people. The problem is the average failure and breakage rates for all phone manufacturers is 2 years, down from 4 years in 2015. What this means is most peoples phones will either be damaged or have some major failure within 24 months of purchase, and this is getting more acute. Its the same for standalone cameras. Since cameras went digital we expect to see a new camera with some failures within the first 15 months from purchase. There are some serious reasons why we need to think about re-use through repair and make this a future aspiration.
One reason is the only 30% of redundant cameras and phone will actually be recycled, and of the 70% that cannot be reycled effectively most of that is not bio-degradeable.
Another reason is manufacturers of these items, have an in-built reliance for repairs in their revenue streams. This is a conflict of interest, because it wont force them to make more robust equipment in te future
A third reason is when we cannot repair items cost effectively, we will offer to buy the item from the customer for a notinal fee, refurbish it at our cost, and redistribute freely to areas of the world in deprivation. This is stated aim, not an aspiration, and I would expect you to hold us to it.
Risks & Challenges
I will admit there are risks. These are mainly financial. In order to make this project work, I will need to eb able to maintain a financial survival for the business. I dont intend to draw any money from the business, until it has an EBIT over 30% per annum, so projections are i wont be paid for the first two years of operation.
The other risk will be response from manufacturers who are concertedly trying to drive out repair businesses from the market, and forcing consumers into taking out expensing equipment insurances which are not garanteed as revenue stream
For both these risk challenges I see it being prepared and have a definate strategy on how to solve these. I cannot state these in this arena, but needless to say I will be actively pursing retailers and giving them repair garantees to use us, taking it away from manucaturers.
