OUR STORY....
My name is Mike Soccio. I have been a writer in Hollywood for over 20 years. I started my writing career on the famed sitcom, "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air", then moved to "The King of Queens." (four seasons on both)...
I loved working in television but my true passion was feature films. I began my career as a "script doctor" working on some of Hollywood's biggest films...
I learned SO much through that time. It shaped me as a writer, a director, a Producer, and as a person. But the biggest revelation for me was that I must, MUST, start working on projects for ME. Projects that speak to a wide audience of people that love comedy... projects that can bring me closer to the audience... projects that can be made for a SMALL BUDGET but are big on heart and that are relatable to the every man and woman.
Movies that inspire me, done the way I want them to be done... films like...
CAMERON AND EDDIE LOSE THE BELT
![]()
This film is everything to me. On the surface, it's about two lovable loser buddies that "misplace" a championship belt and have 48 hours to get it back before a very unstable cage fighter kills them both. It's a rompy and fun movie. But underneath...
.... it's about FRIENDSHIP. I promise you that when you read this script and watch this movie, you WILL FEEL something. You will relate to it. I'm a people person (evident in the video, I hope)... I LOVE when strangers find out that I wrote on Fresh Prince through conversation and they smile, and then discuss their favorite episodes with me.
Truly, that is what keeps me going. That is the "sweet spot" of what I do.
This is why I chose to crowdfund this film. To bring me closer to the public. To allow the fans to VISIT THE SET, to hang with us at screenings, to acquire memorabilia from the film that will make them smile for a long time. Along with my AMAZING TEAM, we want to answer questions, teach, and interact with all of you. We want to have a shared experience.
WE WANT TO MAKE THIS MOVIE WITH ALL OF YOU
Our goal is to use crowd funding to redefine the boundaries between filmmaker and audience. This is why so many of our "perks" invite you guys to be "involved." Sure, we have cool things available (like scooters and t-shirts) but the MAJORITY OF OUR "PERKS" are about ALL OF US BEING TOGETHER. We want you on our set... in our movie... at our screenings... at the premiere... at our after-party... we want YOUR FACE ON OUR SCREEN (a perk that we discounted by 75%)... we want you to get involved. To tell us about your favorite (and not-so-favorite) parts of the film...
We want you to be as excited about making Cameron and Eddie Lose The Belt as we all are!!
Because every day.... when it comes to this film, we breathe it, live it, LOVE it! We must make it. We are COMPELLED every single day to make this happen.
BUT HOW DO WE DO THIS?
Now, we could go the traditional route of selling the script to a major studio, and HOPE that one day it gets made... and if it does, it will be a very different movie with very different cast members and very different storyline. Because that is the way the studio system works. It's a wonderful thing, but it's not right for us at this time. It's just not good enough. Not now. Not with this film. So.... along comes....
INDIEGOGO.COM -- THANK YOU THANK Y0U THANK YOU
It's as if crowd funding was designed perfectly for my personality and career goals. It fits perfectly with our brand and what we are trying to do. When we first learned that we could make a movie WITH THE PUBLIC.... we knew we had to do it. We knew that if ALL OF YOU OUT THERE heard the pitch for the film and saw our undying enthusiasm for this movie... that nobody could stop us!!
Now... making a movie is never easy. Ever. For anyone. But I know that my team and I have the collective experience to make this film, and make it right. We can jump any hurdles that appear in our path, because we believe in what we're doing. We will not take NO for an answer. Ever. It won't be easy, but if we can reach our goal (or even close to it), we will gear up, and hit the set... blazing!
AND SPEAKING OF OUR GOAL...
The truth of the matter is... films are expensive to produce. There is no such thing as having "too much budget." Your average Hollywood blockbuster costs hundreds of millions. But our film can be made for a small amount, relatively, because I am willing to do the work for very little pay, and my actors are willing to get involved for the love of the script and the chance to be a part of something great and connect with the public. And the team I've assembled are go-getters who have NO QUIT IN THEM. We've called in every favor that we have... we're all ready to work hard to make something special.
That said... it still takes a certain amount of money to physically produce the movie. We are currently budgeted at $1.5 million. This is the minimum amount we would need to produce the film as written in the current draft of the script. Of course, if we have more money, then we will be able to shoot cooler locations, have prettier sets, and the luxury of shooting for more days... not to mention the extra money really comes in handy in post-production (where the film is "gussied up" and made to look beautiful!)...
Of course, if we don't reach our goal, we will continue to work our butts off to make the same great quality film for less money, and continue to seek funds through other mediums in order to bring this film to life, and share it with all of you!
Where there's a will, there's a way. Because we DO NOT take "no" for an answer. Ever. Ever!
...AND THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN
You have my personal commitment -- 100% -- that not only will you get whatever perk you purchase, but you will get more. If you help us, you won't be sorry. Not only will you be part of something positive and inspiring, but you will be brought into the moviemaking experience in a way that no other film has done in the past. Just a few of the "perks" that bring you closer are...
-
"VIDEO SET DIARY" (a constantly updated and professionally edited glimpse into the entire movie-making process. Table readings; rehearsals; on-set footage, etc...
-
"YOUR FACE; OUR SCREEN" -- this allows you to shoot your own video and have it play at the end of our movie!! This will live on FOREVER!
-
HANGING WITH US ON SET FOR LUNCH... you will sit with the cast and crew, chatting about whatever... you will be brought onto set as a VIP and treated as such!
-
MULITPLE CAST SCREENINGS -- This is a truly affordable way for you, our investors, to watch the movie with ALL OF US! And afterwards, you will ask questions and the cast & creatives will answer them!
-
CAST & CREATIVE MEET N' GREETS -- Attend the screening and come backstage to a special green room where you hang with our cast & creatives in a casual atmosphere. Be a VIP... because to us... that's what you are!
As you can see, these perks were designed to bring you closer to us. To allow us to raise the necessary funds to make this wonderful movie... together. Teamwork.
And if we do reach our goal... well... that will be because of ALL OF YOU. Pat yourselves on the back, smile, take a deep breath... and let's get ready to make a movie everyone!!
Thank you in advance for your contribution. With much love.... Mike Soccio & the entire Cameron And Eddie team!!

EJ Wessel (Co-Writer; Producer)
![]()
EJ
always had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and the entertainment industry. Born and raised in the Napa
Valley, EJ moved to Hollywood after college, and was able to secure a position on the Fox Television lot at the ripe age of 21. After six
months working on the lot, Universal Studios came calling, making him an offer
to work as a Production Manager and Producer for the tv and Feature development
department. EJ stayed at Universal
for over ten years, until he broke off to work independently. These days, he divides his time between
wine country and Hollywood, where he continues to produce, act, and develop tv
and movie projects. His passion for exotic vehicles drove him to open his own motorcycle
dealership and online retail store in Napa called BigKidToys.com.
Kristi Kilday (Co-Producer; Post Production Supervisor)
![]()
Kristi Kilday, in many ways, is the heartbeat of Cameron & Eddie Lose The Belt. She is our backbone, our biggest cheerleader, and by far, our hardest worker. Her years of experience in production and post-production make her an integral part of our team (she is Creative Director and CEO of KO Creative), but it is her passion for bringing this movie to life that speaks the loudest. She believes that this movie will be made, no matter the obstacles that are put in our path. She also believes that the public will be part of it every step of the way. Kristi is the reason we decided to crowd fund in the first place. As she puts it... "it takes a village to make a movie", and our village... is anyone reading this now.
Kristi's partnership with Mike Soccio & Leawood Films is an ongoing endeavor, as they are currently in development on another project together!
Don Hale, Jr. (Producer)
Don Hale, Jr. is an inspired entrepreneur,
philanthropist, and artist. His drive to succeed, coupled with his passion for life and all things entertainment, is what makes Don such a critical part of our team. Don is the kind of guy you want in a "fox hole" with you, says writer/director Mike Soccio. "He's just that kind of guy!"
Early on, Don
found that his true passion lied in the entertainment industry. He fell in love with the art and began
taking classes, workshops, and stringing together indie projects in his free time.
Since entering the industry, Don has had both luck and success. He has appeared
in and worked on international commercials, indie films, music videos, sitcoms,
and projects with many celebrities of every caliber. As a once “at risk youth” whom
faced homelessness and the perils of the county foster system Don offers his time
to local homeless shelters and children’s programs, where he especially enjoys
helping youths become involved in athletics. His mission is to inspire youth
with his personal story of overcoming with the mantra “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE”.
Walter Mosley, Jr. (Producer)
![]()
Walter Mosley Jr. is a Producer whose latest feature project, "Sister Code" is generating amazing Hollywood buzz. Along with his partner, Don Hale, Walter was able to take a smaller budget film, and give it a "bit movie" feel. This ability is priceless when it comes to making independent films such as ours. Mosley's go-getter personality, kind spirit, and wellspring of knowledge of the entertainment industry makes him an integral part of our team, and we're lucky to have him.
Additionally, Mosley is an entertainment lawyer
who has a broad based corporate, securities, finance, intellectual property,
sports, media, arts, and fashion practice. A
committed lawyer to public service, Mr. Mosley, on a pro bono basis, has represented orphanages (Isaiah
Washington’s Gondobay Manga Foundation) in Africa serving children whose
parents died from complication of HIV/AIDS. He is most proud, however, of his
ongoing representation of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy – the Los
Angeles based nonprofit that changes the lives of young people through the
performing arts. A graduate of Harvard
Law School and recipient of the Dean’s Award (selected by Supreme Court Justice
Elena Kagan), Mr. Mosley clerked for Judge Damon J. Keith on the United States
Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the state bars of
California and New York as well as the Federal Tax Court and the Sixth Circuit
Court of Appeals.
