Why support "Candlewood"?
Our executive producer and producers are residents of New Milford, CT resident, a town with a history that is full of unbelievably rich, true stories. Victoria Flores is leading the charge, making this the first ever Latina led horror feature film franchise ever. Partnering with New Milford born and bred, multi-award winning Producer & Director Myke Furhman, our choice to film here lends itself to our being able to leverage our roots, connections and locations, allowing us to create a world class feature film on an independent budget.
This horror film lends itself to franchise suitability as we continue to tell the stories of the early settlers and Native Americans. More than ever we need to understand our history and how it changed peoples lives for the good and the bad. We are all so different yet the same.
The funds we raise here will help us get through the production phase. (EDIT: We are now in the process of fundraising for post-production, including an original music score). Our distribution plan is for theatrical release followed by streaming, and we are hoping for both domestic international distribution.
The funds will go to production with an already stellar crew and cast confirmed, including:
Joel Bryant
Seen in LA Macabre, Welcome to Sanditon, Criminal Minds.

PLOT SUMMARY
A blended family moves from the city to a small town in Connecticut, where a local urban legend adds chaos and terror to an already fragile family dynamic. The staunch patriarch, who desperately wants his family to not see him as a failure but as the father that did everything he could to keep his family together through difficult times.
Candlewood follows a family leaving New York City for a more simple life in the country town of New Milford , CT. The haunting and mysterious true stories of missing hikers near a popular state park, Lover's Leap, coupled with the town of Jerusalem sitting at the bottom of Candlewood Lake gives credibility to our narrative. We bring to life the struggle of good vs evil and what happens when lifelong, outdated traditions are challenged.

WHO ARE WE?
We are long time creatives that want to tell a relevant story for our time. As the first Latina produced horror film franchise on record we are changing the rules and highlighting the beautiful community that is New Milford, CT. After a tough few years, we are hiring locally and getting the community involved in every aspect of this project. This is as much as New Milford's movie as it is ours. New Milford can be any one of your towns and economic development is of utmost importance to us.
WHO IS LILLINONAH?
In the early 1700s in what is now New Milford, Lillinonah, the beautiful daughter of Chief Waramaug of the Weantinock tribe, happened upon a white man lost and alone in the woods. The two fell in love instantly — but it doesn't end there.
Lillinonah led this man to her village, located next to the great falls on the Housatonic river. She fed and cared for him. He stayed with her until the beginning of winter. Then he left, promising to come back after he returned to his own people.
Lillinonah waited for him until “springtime deepened into summer” and “summer faded into autumn,” but the man did not return and the young woman became very depressed. Seeing his daughter’s anguish, Chief Waramaug decided to marry her to a member of their tribe named Eagle Feather. Before her wedding, she boarded a small boat and rowed toward the great falls to certain death. Just as her boat entered the current of the falls, the man returned through the woods. Spotting Lillinonah, he threw himself into the water to go over the falls with her. Both died. Lillinonah's presence is said to still inhabit Lover's Leap until this day.
Is this story real or merely another Pocahantas trope? It's a perfect time to educate and highlight the stories of the local Schaghticoke First Nations tribe of Native Americans.
It is also important to mention that during pre-production one of our beloved producers, Bedhan Ball died from heart failure in Stamford, CT. This film is dedicated to him as he guides us on our journey.
We need your help more than ever!
