Short Film: Canted
I have a project which I am extremely excited about! It's a film called "Canted."
Meet Jonathan, a photographer who isn't all that great at photography. His girlfriend, Amber, is a highly successful art curator who supports Jonathan's dreams, even though she sometimes wishes he'd just get a job. Circumstances are bleak until Jonathan fumbles his camera and takes an accidental canted angle picture of his face. This, to both Amber and Winston (Amber's friend who Jonathan is jealous of), is his masterpiece. Winston is an experimental filmmaker and likes the photo so much that he plans to sabotage Jonathan's attempts to gain critical acclaim unbeknownst to Jonathan.
So why am I so excited about this project? This film will discuss issues in the art community and the conventions of modern art in a very comical and satirical way. The main reason I am interested in producing this film is that it has a theme of not giving up on your passion for the arts even though the circumstances may seem bleak. Art is important to the lives of many people, and I want to emphasize that aspect with my film.
With your help, I will be able to produce a quality film that will truly reflect the vision that I have for it. It will be something that I will be confident in sending to festivals and applying to grad schools with, as this is my senior film. This film project means a lot to me, and I would greatly appreciate any kind of help you could offer me to make this dream a reality.

Why Fund this Project in Particular?
"Canted" is valuable to all of the people in the artistic community. It is a lighthearted satire on modern art and also emphasizes the importance of art in the world and in our lives. As a film maker, I know the importance of art and how it affects my life. As supporters of the arts, this is a very interesting and important film that I would like to see have success.
I have never crowd-funded, but I have made impactful documentaries on music and I have directed and produced a satire film on Theater Art titled "The Rehearsal" which garnered a lot of laughs.
If you fund this project, I guarantee that you will see great results as I will be submitting it to festivals and MFA applications. It is a very meaningful film to anybody interested in the arts.
Risks & Challenges
The only true obstacle in the way of achieving my goals for this film is money and securing permits. As a student of UC Irvine, I already have access to insurance for outside permits, so this will not be an issue. I have a lot of experience in finance, and I can assure you that your money will be put to good use. Being able to produce the film in a timely manner will not be a problem, as I plan to have it finished by June 2015.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you are interested in this project and would like to help out with my goals for the future but cannot contribute, please let your friends know about this. I would like to get the word out to as many people as possible, and I greatly appreciate and kind of help that I can get with that.
Thank you so much! I can't wait to make "Canted" a reality.
