A Superhero Musical Sequel
At the 26th St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival
Created and directed by Trevor Barrette
“Holy tingling anticipation!” - Jim Burke, Montreal Gazette
STORY
Following sold-out performances at the 25th St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival and the 19th Wildside Theatre Festival, the superhero musical saga continues!
In the not too distant future, when the tyrannical President for the Republic of Earth forms an alliance with an extraterrestrial Empress, it will be up to Captain Aurora and her SkyGuard to save the day! But just as Captain Aurora begins to take the reins of the newly founded team, her late fiancé returns from the dead as Talos, a cybernetically enhanced super soldier, causing her plans to go awry. With the fate of the planet at stake, the team must find a way to work together before it is too late. As Captain Aurora says… “where there’s a will, there’s a way!”
Kaleidoscope Theatre Montreal is proud to present its 8th production and 3rd original musical, the sequel to last year’s “smashing success!” (Marilla Steuter-Miller, CJLO): “Captain Aurora II: A Superhero Musical Sequel” created and directed by Trevor Barrette. Now YOU can help us bring this all-new adventure to the stage!
IMPACT
Captain Aurora II is an all-ages (kid-friendly) show that engages with the tropes and narratives of popular superhero fiction. In the sequel, we continue to challenge these ideas while paying tribute to the camp, pizzaz and melodrama of the world of superheroes.
Now in its 5th year, Kaleidoscope Theatre Montreal continues to work with emerging and established artists to produce classic and original works with a focus on dynamic storytelling and design. “We’ve always held collaboration and creation at the heart of our projects,” says founder Trevor Barrette. “That’s why I’m proud to be presenting this project for our 5th birthday. At its core, “Captain Aurora II” is all about friendship and family and working as a team. Although Aurora is certainly at the helm of the ship, the musical is first and foremost an ensemble piece.”
WHAT WE NEED
We're looking to raise 2000$ through this campaign to cover the cost of our costume, set and prop design, in addition to rehearsal space rental and other expenses. Your generous contribution through our Indiegogo campaign will go directly to the printing of posters, postcards as well as books for our 15 actors and music for our 3-piece band, rehearsal space rental (over 100H for the performers and band), the costume design (including 4 new light-up costumes), the set design (including 4 light-up“hoverboards”) and the prop design (including swords, hammers, guns and all sorts of other sci-fi paraphenelia).
All this to bring to you the best superhero musical sequel out there!
WHAT YOU GET
Your support will be rewarded! For every contribution of 7$ or more you’ll receive a perk (or a package of perks) such as:
A shout-out on our social media,
Character ringtones,
Music from the sequel,
