The Campaign

The Code Green campaign was born in March of 2014 in response to the high number of suicides in first responders such as EMTs, Paramedics, Firefighters, Dispatchers and Police Officers. The reality is that mental health issues like depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD and suicide are significantly higher in these groups than they are in the general public but it isn't talked about. 

Unfortunately responders who need help are often left feeling stigmatized and alone and they are not aware of the resources available to help them. We aim to change that by helping reduce the stigma, providing education, and giving responders an outlet to share their stories in their own words. 

Why is Code Green important?

• Evidence suggests that first responders have PTSD rates equivalent to that of the military. 
• Over 60 EMTs, Firefighters and Paramedics killed themselves last year, a number that we know was underreported. 
• Code Green shows first responders that they are not alone in their problems, which reduces the silence and stigma.
• Code Green will provide education to first responders so they can recognize if they or a coworker needs help.

What do WE get out of this fundraiser? 

• We get startup money to get Code Green off the ground. 
• Around $1000 will go towards getting our Federal 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit. Getting our 501(c)(3) is critical to growing and being successful. 
• The rest of the money will go towards operating expenses like accounting software, business cards and other boring business-y stuff. 
• We get to spread awareness about Code Green and the reason we exist. 

FAQ about the gear.

• The t-shirt proof will be posted ASAP. The shirts will be unisex and come in adult sizes. They will probably be a light gray. 
• ALL FOLKS WHO WILL RECEIVE T-SHIRTS need to email us at thecodegreencampaign@gmail.com - that missing 'n' is very important and we don't want you to miss out on your goodies!
• We can NOT ship outside of the US and Canada.
• The dog tags and metal bracelets are made in the USA by a small business. 
• Silicone bracelets are 7.5 inches in diameter.   
• Metal bracelets are 7.5 inches in diameter and come flat.
