Stories Team
It was hard for me to find a picture of myself to put on here. Ever since I was given my first camera I have usually always been the one behind the lens. I love that a picture or video captures a moment and a memory.
More importantly it captures a story.
Last year I embarked on a trip around the globe, camera in hand and ready for an adventure. What I did not anticipate was the amount of amazing people I would meet. Their stories stuck with me and instead of me thinking I was going to change the world. The world changed me.
Thailand was the last stop on my trip, and the most impacting. I was able to get involved with a local church and a few organisations associated with it. All I wanted to do after meeting so many incredible people was to capture their stories and share them.
This is where I need your help
There is not really any funding to support a photographer/ videographer in almost all non-for profits. But I did not want that to be the reason to stop me. I am currently volunteering my time and skills to a local church here and the organisations associated with it.
I am setting up a stories team. With the goal to capture some of the stories from the people and the organisations making a difference in their local community.
Your donations will help in a huge way to start this team and maintaining it.
- Audio and Visual equipment (Microphone, tripod, LED lighting)
- Transport (Traveling up north and around Bangkok)
- Living expenses (Helping me stay here with food in my belly and and roof over my head)
- Donations to the organisations I am working with (They are the true heroes of this story so I want to give back to them as well)
The Impact
I met girls who had been sold into the sex industry and heard their struggle of working in this industry and trying to get out. 'Walk with Love' was started when I first got here to build relationships with these girls and give them a safe place to live and start to re-build their families.
I made some great friends who are refugees and heard their stories of literally running across boarders to save their families from persecution. 'Generation Miracle' and 'Liferaft International' are working with many families who have been forced to leave there countries. They are providing housing, work opportunities and helping with the process of resettlement.
I visited an orphanage on the boarder of Thailand and Myanmar where they are housing and educating children who are without a home. 'Help Live' have started a coffee stand to raise money for this orphanage and provide teachers much needed training.
With your help I believe that we can start to see these stories making a difference here in Thailand and across the globe.
It was because of one person sharing a story that brought me to Thailand. If a story can have that type of impact on me I am convinced it will impact many more.
Risks & Challenges
Some call it a risk, they are right. I was always told that the greatest wins come from the greatest risks.
Staying here in Thailand is tough!
I can not work legally to support myself as I do not have a degree. I have invested in taking Thai language classes to equip myself a little more in connecting with the community. This will also allow me to apply for an education visa which will give me 12 months here.
Other Ways You Can Help
I understand that not everyone is able to give financially but I would be grateful if you could help in a few other ways.
