Hi
there, so who are you? Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello
and welcome to the campaign, my name is Michael Durkan and I am the
producer/director of 'Celtic Nights -- The Emigrants Bridge'. I am here trying
to raise the funds to produce a high quality HD live show of Celtic Nights
- The Emigrants Bridge, which will be touring the USA and other countries
worldwide.
What is Celtic Nights- The Emigrants
Bridge?
Celtic Nights -The Emigrants Bridge is a show, that through music and
dance, tells the story of those who have emigrated, those who
found it necessary to leave behind their families and head out for the New
World.
Why is it about
that old story that connects with audiences so well?
Well,
so many of us know how that feels. I myself know what it is to emigrate, to
leave behind the country you love for pastures new. It’s a theme that means so
much to so many people. I believe it’s important to remember where we came from
and to pay homage to the sacrifices our ancestors made to make our lives
what they are today.
What is your aim?
I
want to produce a world-class production of Celtic Nights with the aim of
airing this show to a mass audience as well as producing a video and cd. With
your help, I will fund a high quality and memorable production through music,
song and dance, which will weave together the story of a people from many lands
told through the eyes of Irish emigrants and their Celtic cousins who were
forced to leave their homes and loved ones in centuries past. The whole thing is
a great journey.
What do you mean
by the Emigrants Bridge?
Well,
the Emigrants Bridge, was the rugged and unforgiving sailing ship of
yesteryear that would bring them over to the States, or the New World as it
were.
How will it look?
What
will it Wel, we have already created a promotional video clip which will give
you a taste of the production, however, the shoot for the new filming
will include new sets and show design of the highest professional quality.
Where is the
funding going?
The
funding required will be spent according to a very specific budget taking
into account all of the production facilities i.e. venue hire, costumes,
music arrangements, set building, artist buyouts, editing, storyboard, 10
camera HD shoot incorporating, jibs, steady-cam, dolly shots, directors, floor
managers, a live audience, cast and crew accommodation and catering
facilities. One of the 3 day shoots will incorporate a live audience brought in
specifically for the recording.
What would you
say to those that contribute?
For
everyone who contributes whether it be small or larger amounts it really is greatly
appreciated. As you can see, we have many rewards to offer to contributors along the
way. If you know other people who would share your interest in this
project, let them know, any help be it monetary or just spreading
word would be hugely appreciated. So thank you very much to those that do.
