Miriam Engel is a gifted Israeli choreographer and teacher who performed with Jerusalem's highly acclaimed Kolben Dance Company. She is now founder and Artistic Director of Engela Dance, a new modern dance company in Jerusalem.

This recent Tel Aviv performance of Miriam's No Hands is based on losing the use of her arm for three months. An authentic and moving work, it is a well-crafted integration of original movement, engaging music, meaningful text and high level performance.

Miriam has invited Lin Batsheva Kahn to be her Visiting Artist-in-Residence in December. As a new company, they are in need of support to fund this 4 week International Dance Project.

The funds will pay for Professor Kahn's

. travel

. teaching classes

. setting piece endure inspired by tehillim 13 (photo of Kahn sitting in chair)

. creating a new Jewish work

. videography

You will enable Engela Dance to study with and perform Lin Batsheva Kahn's choreography inspired by Jewish themes in Israel theaters and to create videography from the dance residency.

You will make a positive cultural impact on Israeli audiences who will see work by an American Jewish choreographer on one of their own dance companies.

You will also invest in the development of artistic dance in Jerusalem to make this beautiful place even more beautiful.

Sincerely,

Jessi Aviv Barnes
