Overview
We have developed an alternative to plastic water bottles! Not only do they not damage the environment but they also help provide clean water to those who need it the most! Our bottle is totally 100% plastic free, no more dead turtles, dolphin and micro plastics in our food, we are going to prove that we don’t need plastic anymore

The Plastic-less Bottle

Introducing Choose Water’s plastic-less bottle. It is completely biodegradable, made from sustainable products and degrades into non-toxic, environmentally friendly substances.

It is formed of a special lining that coats the inside of a vacuum formed 3D paper casing. While we can’t divulge the exact composition of the lining (it’s our little secret) it is completely sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Our bottle doesn’t harm the environment; it will degrade within months in the ocean or in landfill and can be recycled. So no matter where it ends up, it wont do any damage.

Not only does it not hurt the planet, it also helps communities  across Africa. We have committed to donate 100% of our profits to our charity partner, Water For Africa.

Why We Need Your Help

We have come to Indiegogo to ask for help from the public. We can't get our bottles onto shelves without you guys. We need new machinery, tooling and distribution networks so we can complete with the plastic big-guns, and get our bottles onto shelves as soon as possible.

The machinery will be used to increase our production, improve the quality and integrity of our bottles and make sure they live up to your expectations.

So please buy a t-shirt or a tote bag, or come to our launch party, and  we can end our dependency on plastics and provide the alternative that so many of you want.

TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THE OCEAN ONE BOTTLE AT A TIME

The Bottle

We can’t tell you exactly how we make it, until we have buttoned down our patents. However, the process is really cost effective and while we don’t have the scaleability of plastic quite yet, but  it isn’t any more expensive for you guys!

What we can tell you is the outer case is made from 100% recycled sustainably sourced paper pulp. To make it watertight we coat the paper with our liner,  this strengthens the paper to protect it from bumps and bangs and creates a waterproof seal.

The liner is made from fully biodegradable and sustainable sourced materials. They have actually been proved to be beneficial to the environment, neutralising soil acidity and providing nutrients to aquatic environments.

Our Background.

We are really lucky to have such a great team supporting our new bottle. While the Choose Water team may be small, we have a huge network of suppliers, charity wonders, designers, engineers, drinks brokers and pr gurus supporting us.

We set up Choose Water, as a social enterprise that sells bottled water to raise money for charities that provide clean drinking water to those who need it most. Having looked at a number of charities, we met Water For Africa.

They invited us to Gambia on their next trip and we gladly accepted. While in Gambia, James was inspired to do even more to raise money for Water For Africa and committed 100% of our profits to help aid them.

Choose Water then built our sales and secured a contract with a large food festival in the Summer of 2017. It was during this time that we became aware of the massive negative impact of the plastic bottles we were selling in their thousands. So we decided to develop a new bottle that could replace plastic as a cost-effective and sustainable container for our water.

At the end of the summer, we committed to being completely plastic free, and haven’t sold a plastic bottle since. As we did this, the world woke up to the damage that plastic can cause on natural environments, this spurred us on to continue our development.

The development process was harder than originally expected and required the development of cutting edge machinery and tooling. The bottle itself had to be completely biodegradable, sustainable and non-toxic in anyway to both marine and land ecosystems, while at the same time still resemble a bottle, cost the same for the consumer and keep the water inside fresh. I

t took us just over six months to get something that resembled a bottle, and a further six months to turn it into a fully functioning prototype, that was cost effective and could keep our water fresh and secure for months on end.

Our new bottle can replace plastic ones and help protect the oceans from any further damage.

The Charity.

Water for Africa is currently based both in the UK and The Gambia. The UK arm is focussed on targeting funding for projects in Africa and managing the budget, allocating of resources and procurement of goods and services to be used on the projects within Africa. The Gambian base currently implements the projects on the ground. They have worked within a private and public partnership with all profits, after operating costs, reinvested directly in the communities that need the greatest help and support.

Water for Africa believes in investing in the model to provide lifetime support of all water projects in Africa, through to continuous support, training and service to ensure all of the boreholes, equipment and services remain updated and viable, a key criticism of aid for water in the past, was that the deterioration and lack of continuous support for the water sources mean that the wells are now falling into a state of disrepair and as such are no longer working. It is Water for Africa’s vision to provide each country with the necessary trained people and support to provide spare parts and service.
