Short Summary
Hello Everyone,
We are a crew of Drexel University student filmmakers who have come together to make a film called “City Streets”.
Inspired by a screenplay by Anthony Marotta and written and directed by Caitlin King, “City Streets” is a short film about taxi cab driver named Jerry, who is in deep gambling debt. He meets women named Lena when she gets in his cab and forces him to make a decision that will change the course of his life.
Our crew is made up of very creative and extremely talented people who are excited to take on the challenge of making a film that takes place entirely inside a moving car. That is right. The whole film takes place inside a cab. We wouldn’t try it if we didn’t think we could do it. Not only do we think we can do it, but we have already begun planning and prepping and we are ready to begin making this film a reality. You can check out our crew and their many achievements by scrolling down just a bit.
What We Need & What You Get
The most important factor in our film is the Cab that Jerry drives and cabs aren't cheap. We need between $1500.00 for our film to really be successful and while we have several other fundraiser we are relying on this Indiegogo fund to keep us going. As we said before the car and city are the two most important factors in the film and this is where most of the money will be going. We need the before mentioned $1500.00 to pay for a cab that we can modify and use for shooting, permits, food, transportation and the occasional police escort. The more money we can raise the better. Any extra funds will be put towards any kind of festival entry fee and improving the film overall.
Our perks are a great deal and something to get excited about. Since they are all under $50 dollars your wallet is going to thank us later and every donation comes with a cool reward. Saying Thank you is not only the right thing to do, but it always make people feel better. That is why we are offering a thank you in the credits with every single perk. We also know that many people do not get the opportunity to be on a film set very often and while we can only let 5 people join us (for the $50 perk) everyone us will receive a cast a crew signed photograph with our second tier perks and higher. Even though a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is always better, that why our crew will send you a vine at our 3rd tier perk. If a personalized vine wasn't enough for you, our next step up is your very own digital download of "City Streets". If your looking for something less digital and you'd like a cool piece of "City Streets" merchandise our next perk features the Fuzzy dice you see in cabs, it's the perfect thing to give your ride a new edge. As mentioned before for $50 five lucky people can join us on set, and hang out for a night as we shoot the film.
Lastly our favorite perk is a pretty big smash, for $25 you can help us support our film and attend our post film Car Bash. At the Car Bash we will be saying a permanent good bye to what ever car we use film the movie. Since it will most likely be a junker, we are planning on scrapping it after the movie. However before we drop it off at the junk yard we'd like to say a cathartic goodbye by smashing it to bits. If you donate at the $25 level, not only will you get to attend this event and beat the crap out of a car with all sorts of things, but you will also get to keep a piece of the car if you choose.
The Impact
While we are doing this film for our class at Drexel University, we are also making this film for ourself. It is our first real opportunity to make a film from start to finish and obviously we want to do a good job. We are all aiming to do a multitude of things as film makers and this film will definitely help us drive our future careers. Each one of our crew members already has a successful track record with films of this level and we would each love another one to add to our portfolio.
Risks & Challenges
Film making is always risky, no matter how much you prepare anything can go wrong. Our biggest concerns and challenges are getting the necessary permits and police escorts we need to shoot in Philadelphia . On top of that we need a car/taxi that we can modify and tow around on a trailer for filming purposes. We also need to an actual cab so that we can shoot our exterior shots. As students, we do not have a lot of money or any of the insurances required to rent these things. So we have gotten creative and have been attempting to solve these issues. With your help and out determination and ingenuity we believe that we can overcome these challenges and make an amazing film.
We are creatives and we are always looking for constructive input. Spreading the word is the best thing you can do, the more people that know about our film the better. Thank you for everything and for all your support.
