HELP TAKE CJB APPAREL ON TOUR THIS SUMMER!

EXTENDED VIDEO: By Melissa Seda Films

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtE8Imf9ZuM&feature=youtu.be

Cassie blue iSkiWHO: My name is Cassie Joy Bergman - I am currently a full-time student in my senior year at Washington State University. Born and raised on Vashon Island, among a thriving community of artists and creators, I knew from an early age that I too wanted to join the creative world. I started shooting photography at 11 years old and two years ago, I realized my dream of bringing these passions together in the form of an apparel line: Create Joy & Beauty. Inspired by what is captured through the lens of my camera, CJB designs are fresh, unique, and an authentic expression of youth.

EDM Black DJ

WHAT: My goal is to fund a national tour for CJB Apparel this summer. I plan to vend at popular music festivals all over the country. I am an avid festival-goer and a huge fan of EDM (Electronic Dance Music), and relish these opportunities to connect with fellow music-lovers and entrepeneurs.

WHEN: Photography has been a part of my life since I was 11, but I hope to make 2013 the year I take my designs and concepts to the next level. The tour will last from June-September 2013.

WHERE: I will be vending at several of the popular music festivals around the country. Starting with vending at Paradiso at the Gorge, Washington.

WHY CJB? CJB Apparel has been independently run for two years now. All CJB design work, and the marketing of those designs, has been run by me myself and I (with help from some friends of course!). I would hope that this shows the true dedication and passion that goes into this brand.

I work really hard to keep designs fresh, colorful and authentic. For example, although tempting, I try to steer clear from the typical Seattle designs involving the Space Needle. The Space Needle never really represented Seattle for me. The cranes next to the West Seattle Bridge, however, were what I drove by every single time I traveled to Seattle, and THOSE are what I remember most: the dinosaurs of Seattle! I leave the Space Needle designs to other local brands who have already honed in on that design so successfully.

What CJB Needs & What You Get:

Vending: I have already paid for 4 events, totaling $2,080. I still need to pay for the rest of the events, as well as pay for the inventory itself!

Transportation: I have calculated roughly $2,000 total in gas costs.

Inventory: I will be making most of my inventory ahead of time. I have put in hours of design time, coming up with new and exclusive summer designs and need funds to keep inventory coming while on the road. However, what is so cool about everything I produce this summer, is that once it's sold out, it's SOLD OUT!

Food: I will be living on the road 90% of the time, and will be eating out of pocket on the daily. It would be great to raise a little extra so I can be sure to have grub funds!

Van: This is the van I hope to take on the road with me if I raise enough! She's a beauty!

Swing low, sweet chariot!  It's Bigger on the Inside!!

What You Get: Fresh, unique, lovingly crafted art creations turned into quality designer apparel. My everlasting gratitude!! A chance to help me Create Joy & Beauty across the country! Follow my road trip and stay updated on my whereabouts, the music scene & all kinds of hip happenings.

Part of something wonderful

YOU GET TO BE PART OF SOMETHING WONDERFUL!!!

Where do the funds go if I don't reach my goal?

If my goal is not reached, the funds I raise will go to vending fees for each festival, and inventory costs. This way, I can hopefully recycle the money I make at festivals to get me from one festival to the next.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES

As a designer, I think one of the biggest fears I have is not running out of ideas, but running out of product!

Another challenge I expect to face is consistency with product, promotion, and social media. I’ll be on the road 24/7, which means when I’m not driving, I’ll need to be spreading the word on the CJB brand, and keeping up with my inventory. I plan to tackle this in the best way I know how: lots of rest, and with the help of friends (and a little planning and organization too)! I hope to bring one or two people along with me to help balance it all.

This trip will be the experience of a lifetime, but it’s going to require a lot of hard work and dedication for it to become a reality. With the help of backers, a reliable screen printing company, a few helpful friends, and a collective of supporters (YOU!!!), these challenges will be overcome! Thank you Indiegogo, and I'll see you on the road!

Other Ways You Can Help

Snow Ghost is my favorite chair lift on Schweitzer Mountain in Idaho! I learned to ski here in 2011 and spent quite some time shreddin' the Snow Ghost slopes. Look for chair lift #101 when you're wearing your Snow Ghost shirt!

The iSki design is an image of my shadow on the first chair lift on Schweitzer Mountain. I love this design because it reminds me of the first lift of the day. After driving three hours from Pullman, it's always refreshing to hop on that first lift before a full day of riding the slopes!

EDM Tanks

EDM Tank - I've always had a huge passion for Electronic Dance Music. I've been going to shows since I was 17. EDM will always have a special place in my heart. The lettering for this tank is produced from a photograph I took at Identity Festival at the Gorge, Washington in 2011.

While traveling in Europe in May 2012, I found myself taking lots of mental notes of fashion trends. I brought home a wonderful dress from Germany that became the basis for the design of these skirts. My mom, Eileen, and I made these patterns by hand and hand-sewed them as well! Also among my hand-made items are these sequined bras I created.
