Help the Cleveland Chamber Choir present a free set of concerts dedicated to the music of social justice! The concerts on March 7 and 8, 2020 – We March On! Music of Social Justice – will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the tragic events of May 4, 1970 at Kent State University. Within this concert, CCC will present music from over six centuries that memorializes, comforts, speaks truth to power, and illumines both injustice in the world and the just who are working to make the world a better place. Music performed will include works on slavery, oppression, homophobia, police brutality, as well as community healing and consolation.
This concert is part of our fifth anniversary season, dedicated to the memory of Helen Tremaine Gregory. Gregory was a local businesswoman, philanthropist, and environmentalist and avid supporter of CCC. Her work on parks initiatives, recycling, and especially Women For Women Ohio (which she founded) as well as her deep and abiding love for choral music is a model for us all of the transformative power of music. To celebrate her legacy, every concert within the fifth season will feature works by women composers.
We are raising $8,200 to help cover the costs of this concert – every dollar of which will go towards paying our singers and other artists. Your donation will ensure that this concert is a gift to the Northeast Ohio community!
We also hope you can join us to experience this concert in-person. Please visit CCC’s Events page for more details. If you are unable to be with us for these performances, you can “like” CCC on Facebook to view our live-streamed concert.
Thank you - we are so grateful for your support!
