Overview
Revolutionary upgrade for any guitar! With this mechanical memory, you can easily set your favourite sound on your guitar. After maxing out the potentiometer, you can return to the exact same level you were before, and this value can be changed anytime. Immediately. It is available in any pot knob design, so it wont change the appearence of your guitar. Just replace the potknob and the nut with the Clutch™ Knob and the Clutch™ Nut!

"We don't only use the potentiometer on MAX".
                                                   /the Great Guitarplayers/

Every guitar player has their unique sound, which can be created
by a special setting of the pots. That unique sound, the sweet spot
is somewhere in the mid-range of the pots. Most of the guitar players
face the situation on stage or in studio, when they try to get back
to the chosen setting on the pot. But it is impossible.
This is because only the min and the max positions of the pots
are determined by a physical stop. That’s why we need a solution,
that can create a physical stop point in the mid-range of the pots.

Furthermore, for practical reasons, the device has to fulfill
the following requirements:
- the chosen setting could be redefined anytime,
- easy to install, without the changing of the potentiometer,
- must not change the look or the sound of the guitar,
- works clearly mechanically without any electrical modification.

At the state of the art no device has been able to fulfill these
requirements, that is why there are no pots on guitars with this function.
So we invented a brand new principle of operation to create such a device.
We call this invention Clutch™.

The principle of operation that Clutch™ is based on has never been used for
adjustments of any potentiometer. That novelty is approved by the search report
of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO patent no. WO2013093529)
so it is officially an invention, an instrument never been before.
And now it is patent pending worldwide.

Basics
Installation is easy, you only have to change the pot knob
and the washer nut to Clutch™ Knob and  Clutch™ Nut.
The Clutch™ Knob is fixed to the shaft of the potentiometer,
and it is able to move up and down axially.
The Clutch™ Nut is fixed to the treaded collar of the potentiometer,
and comprise two parts : a lower fixed nut and a rotating shim.
By pushing down the Clutch™ Knob it creates
engagment with the Clutch™ Nut's rotating shim,
making them turn  together, only between the position
the engagment created (sweet spot) and the potentiometer's maximum.
By pulling up the Clutch™ Knob it separates from the Clutch™ Nut.
And now you can set a new sweet spot.

The following animation explains the installation and the operation of Clutch™:

Inside - in pieces
This is a picture with all parts of the device,so you can see it’s a purely mechanical, precision construction. It won’t change the sound characteristics of your guitar.

The Clutch™ Knob is fixed to the shaft of the potentiometer, and it is able to move up and down axially. Pushing down the Clutch™ Knob creates engagment with the Clutch™ Nut's rotating shim, making them turn  together. By pulling up the Clutch™ Knob it separates from the Clutch™ Nut's rotating shim.

The Clutch™ Nut comprise two parts : a lower fixed nut and a rotating shim:

The rotating shim is connected to the lower fixed nut with a spring,
so when it is turned and released, it jumps back to its starting position,
just like a rotary dial phone:

Released means when the Clutch™ Knob separates
from the Clutch™ Nut's rotating shim, so this "jump-back"
does not effect on the Clutch™ Knob.
The Clutch™Knob turns only when you turn it.
The "jump-back" effect is to reset the rotating-shim,
so when engagment created it is always starts turning
from the physical stop point.

You can find more information about the operation of the device
in our website http://guitarclutch.com

The device components were designed, to be able to be built inside
any kind of pot-knob, so it wont change the appearance of your guitar.

Designs
We are able to build in the Clutch™ mechanism in almost all kind of
the guitar knobs, right now we have the following designs:
GBSN, TELE, JB, STRT-W, STRT-BL

If you would like to choose different colour or different knob design,
pls leave a comment or contact us info(at)guitarclutch.com,
we are capable of producing more variations.

It’s easy to install!
You don’t have to change the potentiometer, just replace the potknob and the nut
with the Clutch™ Knob and the Clutch™ Nut!

Remove the knob and the nut                            Install the  Clutch™ Nut

Install the Clutch™ Knob                                     Ready to use!

Many of our friends and fellow guitarplayers have been using their Clutch™,
with great success and satisfaction:

We have all  the materials and technologies ready and we are able
to produce Clutch™ samples by CNC in our workshop,
approximately 400-500 units per month.

Our goal is to optimize the product for mass production.
But at the moment very few people heard about this revolutionary guitar accessory,
and we need to break trough the wall of obscurity.

And thats where you come in the picture
If you can choose from the pot knob which can only turn the potentiometer, or the one that can remember your sweet spots, you surely will pick the one with the extra feature.

If you have heard about it.
To make it happen, we need  the publicity that the succesfull IGG campaign
can provide to boost the project and spread the word among fellow guitarists
around the world. Our goal is to step up to a higher level of mass production,
witch tooling costs more than we can afford right now.

Your support will make this possible.
When you select a level of contribution from the right, and support our project,
in return you will receive the CNC manufactured, hand made precision device,
we are currently producing.

The kit contains:
• 1 Clutch™ Knob ( you can choose GBSN, TELE, JB, STRT-W, STRT-BL style)
• 1 Clutch™ Nut,
• 1 Allen key (M3 size),
• 1 special Clutch™ wrench,
• 2 adapters for split shafts or metric type solid shafts

Make sure you know the type of your pot: Is it metric or inch standard?
Inch standard pot’s threaded collar is 3/8 inch (9.5 mm approx.)
Metric standard pot’s is 8 mm (5/16 inch approx.)
Send this info in comment with your contribution.

F.A.Q

Do I have to change the potentiometer in my guitar?

No, Clutch™ works with any potentiometer.

Does Clutch™ works on push-pull pots?

Yes, but it is effective only in "push" mode,
and you have to install Clutch™ in the pot's "push" position!

Does it change the sound of my guitar?

No, it only makes your play more precise, and easier.

Does it need soldering to install?

No, to install you only need to replace the nut and the knob.

Do I need special tools for installation?

We give you a standard M3 Allen key for the Clutch™ knob’s grub-screw
and the special Clutch™ wrench for the Clutch™ Nut.

Does it have an affect on the electric circuits off my guitar?

No, it is not an electric nor magnetic device, it is simply mechanical.

The mechanism that Clutch™ is based upon is patent pending, at
USPTO (appl. no. 14/307026) http://appft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=20140311279&OS=20140311279&RS=20140311279 and at

The "million dollar" challenge

If you know a better and more simple solution for:
• setting a new minimum level for ANY potentiometer,
• immeditaly change this minimum level at ANY time, during playing,
• able to build in in ANY pot-knob,
Send your idea in a comment and you will receive a free Clutch™ from us!
