What I was interested in, was conveying an emotional message. Which means using everything you've got inside you sometimes to barely make a note...if you have to strain to sing, you sing. So sometimes I sound like gravel, and sometimes I sound like Coffee and Cream.

I'm going to make it publicly acceptable to BE a woman...we are not a taboo!
-Karin Nicole
Hi, I'm Karin Nicole. I'm an actress/writer and director. I left Five Towns College in Long Island, New York to pursue acting full time.
After getting my foot almost in the door countless times, only for it to be slammed on my foot (ouch!); I have decided to go a different route. There is a lack of diversity in how black women are portrayed in film/television; I decided I wanted to show what felt right to me and essentially what was me. Coffee and Cream started as a platform solely for me to face and embrace my imperfections, and to show below the surface of who I truly am. But from there it actually expanded into something greater.
Our series follows a young woman as she takes on her day-to-day. Viewers are able to hear her inner thoughts on various familiar scenarios, that many women have or may likely experience.
Coffee and Cream was developed to encourage and normalize conversation between those who identify with womanhood on these "minor" but important topics focused on being a woman. The main goal is to increase the understanding, respect, and appreciation for women. Especially Black women.
With the support from our contributors we want to up the quality of the show. That means being able to afford higher quality equipment, better locations, and possibly opening up opportunities for other creatives to get involved!
WHAT WE NEED
Now, just because it's a web series doesn't mean that the quality and aesthetic can't be amazing. Right? We're asking for $5,000 to amplify the quality of our tools and show what we can truly bring to the table. As a team we understand the power of packaging and branding. And with well packaged quality work, people are more inclined to come back and watch our show.
The Breakdown:
- Camera Lenses - $1,700
- Location - $1,900
- Mics - $300
- Website - $400
- Auxiliary equipment (i.e. bounce boards, hard drive) - $425
- Accommodations (i.e. travel, food) - $200
- Perks - $75
Now, say we actually don't meet our goal. Fear not, that will not stop the production of the show. We will have to work with what we have, and get the most important things first! Of course the option of renting equipment is there and/or asking someone in our network. The show and what it stands for, is important to everyone involved. We will make it happen!
MEET THE TEAM!
