STORY
In 1917 in Ypres, James Curtis, a young Australian tunneller in his early 20s finds himself trapped underground with an 18 year old German tunneller, Ernst Müller. Chaos breaks out when they discover that they're not on the same side and their pre-conditioned instincts of war takes over. It's not long into their violent but short lived scuffle that they realise they need each other to be alive if they have any hope in getting out.
Collapse is our graduate project at JMC Academy Sydney, after two years of honing our skills and working on numerous student projects we're excited to put all our energy into our grad film! We're currently deep in pre-production and set to shoot in mid October.

Thomas Mullane - Writer/Director
I'm a 20 year old film student from Sydney. I have been studying over the last year and a half and have been able work on multiple great projects. For the longest time I have been extremely interested in history. I have been developing this script over the last year and getting the chance to make a historic short film set in the rich history of WW1 is incredible. I hope I do the period justice and make a great film.
Morgan Pinhorn - Producer
I'm Morgan and I'm super excited to be producing Collapse! Tom's script stood out to me as an opportunity to create something really unique and special and I'm happy to be a part of it. I'm a big fan of War dramas myself so I knew I had to get involved. I'm looking forward to helping support the creative team behind Collapse in making the best film we possibly can.
Alex Moretti - Co-Producer
Hey I'm Alex and I'm the Co Producer of Collapse. I've produced a few student projects previously at JMC and I'm thrilled to be apart of this fantastic team and help everyone achieve their creative endeavours for the project. All the crew on Collapse are all super passionate and hardworking and I have no doubt we will all make something great together.
Jasmine Suivi - Cinematographer
I'm Jasmine Suivi the DOP of Collapse. I've worked with Tom the director, on multiple projects as his cinematographer as well as co-directing with him on previous projects. I am super keen to bring his script to life as I am excited to create the unique lighting for this film, especially to emphasise the time period it is based in.
Anthony Moss - Editor
Hey, I'm Moss, and I'll be editing Collapse! I've worked with Tom and the rest of the crew on several different projects since we all met back in early 2018. I've watched the story develop since the scripts origin during our second trimester and can't wait to see what I have to work with. His fascination with history was made apparent through an abundance of topical, period-piece memes. Somehow he's taught me more about WW1 & 2 from his phone than all the textbooks I ever read in high school, so when he pitched the idea to us I knew I had to get involved. Hope you're as excited for Collapse as we all are.
THE BUDGET
Being a period piece, the majority of our budget is taken up with production design, involving costuming, props and set building.
Other costs involve securing locations and hiring equipment for the camera department, as well as feeding our cast and crew. We will also require an armourer and safety officer on set as we have weapons and fire on our production. Fees/extras allow for variance/contingency across all departments where required, including campaign fees and down the track film festival fees.
Your donations will be put to good use, going straight to the creation of the film in allowing us to make it the best it can be!
