DIRECTORS' STATEMENT
Come to Forget is a story about boundaries. It’s about understanding yourself, what you’ve been through, and not letting traumas hinder further self growth. The filmmakers believe it’s important to shed light on patterns of abuse that are often perpetrated by those closest to us. Isabel’s most recent short film, What Lies in the Woods, focused on a complex power dynamic within a student/teacher relationship. On the other hand, Sabrina’s last film, Losing Momentum, honed in on a tumultuous relationship that reflected the subtleties of emotional abuse over an extended period of time. The protagonist recalls this through dreamlike lulls of isolation. Isabel and Sabrina both draw influences from their past films in order to cover a larger sentiment in Come to Forget surrounding themes of sexual assault and its aftermath.

TONE
Come to Forget will be a non-linear film, including montages reflecting Faye’s memories and emotional state. The montages represent the blurred line between Faye in the present, and Faye recalling her traumas. The film will draw influence from Suspiria’s (Luca Guadagnino, 2018) dark color palette, Black Swan’s (Darren Aronofsky, 2010) psychological thriller elements, and Thelma’s (Joachim Trier, 2017) emotionally charged telepathy.
The score (a sinister, experimental, drawn-out synth) will act as a subliminal reminder for Faye to rehearse at the studio, a place that serves as an emotional trigger. However, she must go to escape home. Her “Catch-22”.

RISKS + CHALLENGES
As women in the industry, we take on a lot more than we can handle on a day to day basis when it comes to maintaining our projected careers. For us, this film is a passion project that we have carved a lot of time out of our busy schedules to work on. It means a lot to us that Come to Forget gets made since we will not be living in the same city this upcoming spring. From both ends of the country, we hope to share the story of our film.
THANK YOU!
