Comic Cinema Remix (CCR) is simple: a once a month, live event in Boise, Idaho where comedians provide hilarious commentary over movies that you remember being excellent but were in fact head-scratchingly terrible -
Call it the “Footloose Effect”: for no apparent reason everybody remembers thinking a movie was a rip-roaring fun time when – as is revealed through the magic of a live CCR viewing – it was in fact a complete pile of garbage.
Thus far, CCR has gotten by on its good looks and charm and the fact that the comics involved are so passionate about the project that they have not minded missing one or two credit card payments in order to make the first few CCR events happen.
But we want to ensure that the next full Comic Cinema Remix season takes place and for that we need help.
See, it costs a bit of money to license each of the terribly wonderful films that we lambast each month. The precise licensing fees are variable, depending upon the age and popularity of the movie being screened as well as the time and place that the showing takes place – and there is a “bulk-rate” discount if we pre-pay for multiple films all at once…which is why we started this indiegogo campaign!
Judging from the first six CCR shows already under our belt (Footloose, Commando, Ghost, Independence Day, Marked for Death and Adventures in Babysitting) we can safely expect that licensing fees for our next six outings will run $200 per movie.
So we ask you, the marginally-crummy-movie loving audience to dig not-so-deep into your pockets and help us raise the $1200 needed to ensure the next 6-month “season” of Comic Cinema Remix can happen.
Please take a moment and watch the attached video, part of which contains the 60s promo video we put together leading up to the July 18, 2014 CCR of Independence Day in Boise Idaho. This promo captures the essence of what the next season of CCR will be about.
We have our season partially mapped out at this point:
Oct 17: Halloween 3
Nov 14: Howard the Duck
Dec 19: Jingle all the Way
January 9: Dirty Dancing
This campaign is to help guarantee we can afford to actually have these shows happen!
