Breast Cancer Survivors Club

We want to build an online community for Breast Cancer Survivors and Their Families For Support, Resources, Friendships and Outreach.

  • My Name is Douglas J. Cohon and I am the president of Amusement Digest Inc. AD Inc. I helped to create the Pink Ribbon App on Facebook Back In 2008.  If you look in the gallery at http://bit.ly/19FA98Z we have added just donations we made to Komen and have requested documents from other charities in order for you to know what we have done in the past and what we plan to do more of in the future.
  • We are building our own Social Network similar to Facebook but for Survivors and their families so that members are able to communicate with each other when they want without restrictions to each other. It will be one of the first Social Networks solely designed for Breast Cancer Survivors and their families. No dependency on third party software updates. We want a place where members can share their experiences, stories, and hope with other members as well as get the resources and tools they need on their journey.
  • You are a crucial part of our plan to achieve our goals. It is going to cost a lot of money to get everything up and running. While we have developers working on the site and some money to get the marketing started we are short on achieving our goals.

We Need To Get The Word Out

  • We are looking to raise at least 5,000 to our marketing/development goals to get the word out to the millions of survivors and their families. We are trying to fund some of the software we will be using to develop the site as well as start an online and offline campaigns to reach new members.
  • In exchange for your help we have added perks to make you a sponsor of the site for life so that all of our members know who has helped us to build this community.

The Impact

  • There are over 236k people diagnosed with Breast Cancer every single year and they are all looking for support. There are so many charity sites online, and we have dealt with many of them, that do not offer support and resources to those who need them. They collect donations for awareness when newly diagnosed women are already aware.
  • In the years of running the Pink Ribbon on Facebook I was sent many awards from charities that we had donated 10's of thousands of dollars to. One thing we realized is after the women started to contact us there was no real help out there for them. Even things like wigs were not something many of the big Charities helped with. Another thing that surprised me was that there was not mammogram services by many of them. A few did offer help for that but most would just refer you to another charity. New survivors should not get the run around where they are on hold for hours just trying to find the right connections.
  • I want this community to be for all survivors, families and newly diagnosed people. I want a community where people do not get the run around when looking for help and support. Let's face it, this is an emotional journey for so many. They need a place where they can reach out to each other for support and share their life experiences. They deserve this and with your help we can make it happen!

Risks & Challenges

Some of the biggest risks of this project is to not get enough initial signups to self sustain the community. This is a risk with any social network.

  • I have been in online marketing for many years. Many of the obstacles that I need to face I can overcome. We need to raise enough money to get the members to sign up and spread the word about the community. Creating an initial buzz over something with being a huge corporation is getting tougher online these days.
  • My plan is to work day and night until any and all obstacles for achieving this goal are overcome. We are not afraid to work morning til night 7 days a week to reach our goals.

Other Ways You Can Help

  • If you cannot help financially you can help us by spreading the word about  the online community at http://breastcancersurvivorsclub.com/. We would appreciate it highly and value your support. Just go there, enter your email and hit the Share Button. Thank you for your support!
  • You can also use the IndieGOGO tools to share this campaign.
