God has been so gracious and you have been so GENEROUS! We have hit our initial goal of $3000!
Which means: WE OFFICIALLY WILL RECEIVE EVERY DONATION GIVEN because we hit our goal in the set time! *see explanation of fixed funding further down
Now its on to our second goal of $4000 total.
Our collective trip total is $5700. We set our initial goal low so that we would be able to make it (yay!) but we are only half way there to funding our whole trip!
Everything you continue to contribute over the initial goal still comes to us and still helps us meet our total trip goal! Help us race the clock and meet $4000!
Support Michelle and Missy on their Compassion Trip to Trinidad!
What are we doing?
We are helping to establish a Green Cross Crisis Center in Trinidad with Regent’s Trauma Team! For two weeks in July, we will be traveling with an awesome team of professors and students to Trinidad to offer trauma counseling to those in prisons, orphanages, and those living on the streets. We also will be training local leadership in crisis and trauma support to be able to respond to national crises and disasters like the Haiti earthquake.
Why we need you?We are looking for teammates to partner on this awesome journey with us! We can not do this alone and truly believe that your partnership will help make a difference in Trinidad. We are looking for donors to come alongside us both prayerfully and financially. Anything helps from $10 to $1000 :) Plus you get some pretty sweet perks :)
What do the funds go to?
The total sum of our collective trip is $5700, but we are starting with a goal of raising $3000. Why you ask? Because this platform is a fixed funding campaign, meaning we do not receive any funds unless we hit our goal 100%. Scary but an exciting risk.So we wanted to start small and work our way up! And we only have 30 days to do it!
If we do hit $3000 within the timeframe, our next goal will be another $1000 ($4000 total). If we hit that we will go for the total sum of $5700!
Donations given go completely to trips costs which cover team supplies, training materials, lodging, local transportation and airfare. Donations are securely collected via credit cards or PayPal Accounts.
The Vision:
What exactly will we be doing during our two weeks in Trinidad?
We will be doing two main things
1. Establish a Green Cross Crisis Center (trainings)
The Green Cross is the trauma/mental health version of the Red Cross. They respond to natural disasters and local community crises around the world. The Green Cross says "the mission is to transform victims into survivors." Like Haiti, Trinidad is susceptible to much of the same natural disasters. That coupled with an impoverished infrastructure makes Trinidad particular vulnerable to crisis. Our hope and plan is to partner with the local officials and the community in establishing Trinidad's first Green Cross center. We will be training officials during these two weeks, equipping them to be prepared for potential threats. Our plan is to leave behind a fully functional Green Cross center to the benefit of Trinidad.
2. Counseling individuals affected by trauma:
Missy and Michelle have been taking specialized training in trauma and crisis counseling (classes such psychological first aid, traumatized families and children, and grief and loss) since last fall. All with the aim of preparing for this trip and becoming certified Traumatologists. We will be going on site to locations such as prisons, orphanages, and inner city community centers in Trinidad. We will be counseling those affected by trauma such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, crime, etc in both group and individual settings.
