Short Summary
My name is Maryam Entezami. I was born in Iran, in 1980 my family and I left Iran for Turkey. Since 1990 I live in Netherlands. In 1997 I graduated as a fashion designer. During my study I took a “ History of Costumes” Course. To my surprise there was little to no information available on Ancient Persian costumes. At first I was really disappointed but it also triggered my ambition. It became my graduation project and I continued my research when I started as an independent fashion designer up till today.
My investigation covers the Persian Women Costume from the Elam (2700 – 538 B.C.) dynasty to date including the folkloric costumes. Over the years I have been collecting information, translating historic images into concrete designs.
My ultimate goal is to publish a book that shows the richness in Ancient Persian Costume tradition from the ancient Iranian History since Elamites Dynasty (2700-538 B.C.) to Pahlavi Dynasty (1925-1979) illustrated with pictures of my fashion designs as a direct translation.
What We Need & What You Get
I need to raise $28,000. This will cover the cost to complete my collection and to make it visible through a website. I want to capture the images both in photography & film to use for an exposure. Finally I want to use all this to turn the content into a Fashion show/ exposition. I want to inform people about the fashion of one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

The Impact
My collection up till now contains over approximately 30 costumes from the Elam period to Pahlavi Dynasty. My first successful exhibition was "Iranian Folkloric Garments", presented in 1997 in the Museum of Anthropology in Leiden, the Netherlands. In addition to several successful exhibitions in the Netherlands, I have shown my collection in Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and England (Manoto TV).
My ultimate goal is to share my costumes, knowledge & insights to a bigger audience to make the richness of our Persian culture more tangible and visible. I hope you are willing to support me in this goal and to make it our joined effort.
