We are a collection of film and fine art students located near Los Angeles, California, and Couch Potato is a soon-to-be short film that you can be a part of! By connecting to those interested in our project, we can gain the funds necessary to launch our production, and return the favor to our funders!
In modern-day Boston, a gambling bookie for the Irish mob struggles to balance his professional and family life after indulging in forget-me-nows, bad-decision-juice, and plain-old-procrastination.
There’s this type of scene that I’ve watched unfold specifically in comedy-crime films and television that I find incredibly entertaining and stress-inducing. For context, the film’s protagonist, usually an anti-hero, succumbs to the temptation of “evil” in the human/self-interest sense of the word. He or she delves deeper into the criminal underbelly, only to reveal how chaotic and unorganized organized crime really is. There are stretching moments of suspenseful buildup laced with dramatic irony where the audience is left gripping their seats, helplessly watching factors come into play only to ensure a chaotic clash (think Fargo, Snatch, Breaking Bad, or In Bruges).
What We Need & What You Get
Films are crazy expensive to make, and almost always exceed their planned budgets. But with your help, we'll have the necessary funds to go towards:
- Props used as plot devices (fake cocaine, a fake gun, and some fake blood; all that good stuff).
- Set decorations (the film only takes place in three locations, so it's important to work out every detail).
- Unique wardrobes.
- Film festival submission fees.
- Catering to cover the two-day shoot.
- Distribution of the DVD's and other perks.
The reason we have such a low goal is because we are not receiving personal profits from the film; 100% of our goal is targeted towards the budget. Any excess funds will be saved for our future films.
We'd really appreciate your support, and we'll return the favor in perks ranging from spots in the credits, DVDs sent to your door, and invites to the premiere screening!
The Impact
Filmmaking is one of the most rewarding experiences we can describe. To see what started as an idea in the shower transcend from your brain to a screen is beyond satisfying. We're just a small group of college students who love filmmaking. The problem is, filmmaking is expensive. Ira Glass put it best when he described the trials of storytelling, whether it be literature or cinema or music, as a "gap between your skills and your taste." The only way to cross this gap is to constantly keep producing bodies of work. However, thanks to the generosity of the people interested in our project, we may be able to create a film without financial restrictions, and see what we are truly capable of creating.
Collectively, our award-winning team has been making films for decades involving constant production at personal costs. This is our first attempt at crowd funding one of our projects, and thanks to you, we may be able to close that financial gap.

Risks & Challenges
Part of filmmaking is always a guessing game, and part of it is a game of trust. We are not making a cliche, cookie-cutter film. We're aiming for something different, and hoping to bring a new experience to you, the audience. Some of your favorite films are probably products of creative freedom and experimentation. While there is more risk involved, the potential reward is something worth funding for.
Our team is experienced in a wide variety of mediums that make up the filmmaking process: photography, graphic design, screen acting, and many more. With this experience, we will be able to tackle any technical or creative challenge thrown our way.
Other Ways You Can Help
Share our story! We need your help to connect with people that would be interested in our project. It can make an even greater impact on reaching our goal than a donation, and we would greatly appreciate it.
