UPDATE 3.0: We've reached our goal! But let's see if we can increase our budget even more. A higher budget means better sound design and better VFX! So tell your friends to help us out! Also, check out our FIRST TRAILER!
Counter Trailer from Ryan Farmer on Vimeo.
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read our proposal. The internet is a vast and glorious place and I just count myself lucky that you have found your way to this page.
With the sudden influx of films surfacing that have the desire to use crowdfunding as a means of generating revenue for his or her projects, it can be difficult to decide just what movies are worthy of your hard earned money.
The first questions that should be asked are: "What is this project?" and "What quality will it be?"
Counter began as most ambitious ideas do, with a desire to create. "I want to make a time travel movie" I said. And so I was off, and eventually I came up with the following:
Time travel was invented in the year 2113. Through trial and error mankind soon found that it is impossible to change the past. However this did not stop rogue time travelers from going back and trying. The Tempus Counter Corporation was established in 2120 to train special soldiers to be sent back and eliminate these rogues. They go back knowing they can’t return, for forward time travel has yet to be invented. This brings us to our story.
Nova is a member of the TCC. She goes back to 2013 to eliminate her target, but things quickly change when she becomes a target herself.
We would love for you all to decide for yourselves if it's a story worth creating, so below is the link to the screenplay. Please take a half hour and read the 16 pages.

If you enjoyed it, then this might be the project for you.
Will it be Good?
I've been making short films of various lengths for the past five years. Some of my best work can be seen here:
Ryan Farmer's Short Films
Hopefully the quality speaks for itself, but if not I can tell a little bit more about how the project will be made.
We're working with an enormously talented Director of Photography named Kane Grant, who has spent a majority of his time working with film.
However, this short is being shot on a Canon 60D DSLR. Don't discount the power of the camera; when used correctly it can create beautiful images. Kane's film background will help us achieve the gritty sci-fi feel that we're hoping to establish.
Also I've been also working with After Effects and other visual effects programs for the past four years. I can assure you that the effects WILL look fantastic, and WILL enhance the overall production value of the short.
Where is Your Money Going?
The graph below gives you a slight visual representation of where we have budgeted our $500.
Props: Obviously as a Science Fiction Short our props are of the utmost importance. Because we are creating them by scratch the cost is significantly higher than just going into Wal-Mart and buying something. This is where a majority of our funds will go, into creating futuristic guns and time travel devices. $250
Costuming: If there is one area we don't want to slack on it's costuming. It is important that our characters look the parts they are playing. Nova must feel as though she is a Time traveling assassin, professional, but not so futuristic that she gives herself away. We're working hard with a group of talented people to ensure our costumes look authentic and believable. $175
Makeup: From robotic facial scars, to missing hands, to burned faces; we do have some significant makeup needs. This chunk of the budget is for buying the makeup needed to achieve these specific looks. $50
Post-Production: This part of the budget is dedicated towards getting DVDs, Blu-Rays, and other materials needed to actually pump out our finished product and send it to all of our generous donors. $25
What do YOU Get Out of All of This?
For your generous contributions we are happy to announce many different reward tiers.

This short film WILL get done by June 2013, but it will only be as good as the people that support it. I have the support of my cast and crew, and I would love YOUR support too. I will constantly be updating everyone on production once we go live to prove that we are moving in the right direction. Feel free to email me questions at Ry.C.Farmer@gmail.com
Finally, thank you once again for taking the time to read this over and for considering us.
