Overview

The aim of Country in a Box is to expose you to a different country. We are planning to produce and send out boxes with the theme of a specific country. When you open a box you start to learn and explore what that country is, where it is and the sorts of things that make it unique and special. With this campaign we are looking to raise funds to set up the business and begin sending our country boxes out.

What is this?

Well hello, I'm Gareth and I love to learn and I love to travel. I also love to receive things in the mail which is how Country in a Box came into being. The basic idea is to send you a handsome box which contains a specially curated set of books, models and items that let you explore that country.

Each box contains ten items:

- a history of the country.
- a classic novel.
- fun facts.
- information on ten famous people from that country.
- an introduction to the language.
- a map of the country.
- the flag.
- some recipes of typical food from the country.
- a model of a landmark.
- pictures of the country.

Initially we have four countries prepared but the aim is to expand on that regularly and to offer people a wide choice of countries they can select to receive. The vision is for a subscription whereby every month you will receive a new box and a new country to explore.

What are we asking for?

We are looking to raise $20,000 to be able to set up as a business. The money will go towards finding a location and inventory. In return for any assistance you are willing and able to provide, you will have access to the very first country boxes that we produce! And if you really like the idea you can select the next country we put in a box.

We anticipate those interested to range from teenagers to adults, basically anyone with an interest in leaning about a country in a structured way with physical items, and not just by scanning Wikipedia. That's the theory anyhow.
