History

Nico B, founder of the legendary Amsterdam video store, Cult Videoheek, started Cult Epics in 1991, the first films acquired for Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium) distribution where The Exotic Dances of Bettie Page, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Cannibal Holocaust, and Tokyo Decadence. Moving to the US in 1998, he continued to release arthouse, horror and erotica films in North America, specializing in the work of directors such as Walerian Borowczyk, Tinto Brass, Jean Genet, Fernando Arrabal, Rene Daalder, Abel Ferrara, Radley Metzger, Jorg Buttgereit, Irving Klaw and pin up Bettie Page, among others.

In Theatres

North American 35mm theatrical distribution titles include Viva La Muerte, The Beast (La Bete), School of the Holy Beast, Un Chant D’Amour, and In a Glass Cage, as well as digitally Death Bed: The Bed that Eats, Score (the Uncensored version) and Angst, which were screened at such prestigious venues as the American Cinematheque, Cinefamily, Lincoln Center Film Society, LACMA, UCLA / Hammer Museum and Alamo Drafthouses and were included in a retrospective shown at Harvard University in 2011.

Definitive Editions

Since 1998 Cult Epics has put out nearly 150 releases on home video in the USA & Canada in definitive editions with a wealth of bonus features, premiering films in their original uncut and uncensored version for the first time, including some of the most sought after and controversial films ever made. Since 2010 we launched our first “critically acclaimed” Blu-ray releases with new High-definition transfers and new bonus features including but not limited to, commentaries, interviews, documentaries, language and subtitles options, soundtracks, perfect-bind booklets, original artwork and O-ring and Slipcase collectible packaging.

Future

Being a niche distributor with a small operation, Cult Epics releases an average of 6 to 12 films per year. FAQ

Do you deliver outside USA?

Yes we deliver Worldwide to contributors, it does not matter where you live. Although shipping in USA is free, we charge actual shipping worldwide at cost.

Would the films play Worldwide on Players?

The majority of our films are Region Free and playable Worldwide, with the exception of the Jorg Buttgereit films, which as requested by producer is Code A for North America.

Regarding the Subscription, how many releases can I expect per year?

We release a minimum of 6 films per year, and maximum 12 per year, if we, with your support reach our goal or beyond, it will be to your benefit.

What happens if you don't reach your goal?

The Collections and T-shirt Perks will be sent to you in February 2017. The New release Perks are scheduled to be released and sent to you no matter what, as the rights have already been secured for the 5 new titles. We need your help to get these out on Blu-ray & DVD in definitive editions. Please support us now.

When will the Cult Epics HC Book being shipped and New Release Bundle and MOON CHILD BD/DVD Combo?

The Cult Epics Hardcover book is being shipped late November 2017, as well the New Release Bundle. MOON CHILD is still in production and we expect to have ready by February 2018, this will be send seperate from the New Release Bundle.
