This wonderful woman is fighting colon cancer without insurance. She is currently $22,000 in debt with just medical bills.  The scary thing is she was fired from her job because she has cancer and can not work full days.  Although this is against the law fighting it and waiting for a settlement takes time!  September 21st she will have surgery to remove the tumor, she has already gone through radiation and chemotherapy.

D has no children and just lost her domestic partner (boyfriend) to congestive heart failure in December.

You would think there were programs available to help, but what she has found is that Medicaid will only kick in if she is unable to work for one year or more, or if she is diagnosed "terminal" with 6 months or less to live.  Her SSI application is still under review, and she does not qualify for unemployment benefits because she is unable to work due to the pain medication she has to take daily.  Also if the radiation and Chemotherapy have worked and she has no live cancer cells, she will be completely disqualified from SSI and Medicaid because she will be considered cured even though she will not be able to work until she recovers from the surgery (6-8 weeks)

D. has been living off her savings since her diagnosis in April, along with $239 a month in food stamps.  In November she will be completely depleted of savings,  going into an Alaskan winter with no way to pay her house payment, electric, or gas bills.  Between her mobile home payment, lot rent and utilities it costs about $800 a month to keep a roof over her head.  I would just like to see one burden lifted from her shoulders so she can focus on getting healthy again.

this is a woman who never met a stranger and has never passed up an opportunity to help out someone in need.  Any donation will be greatly appreciated, and humbly accepted.
