As a child growing up outside of Boston, I remember struggling with the decision of whether to become a veterinarian or an artist. Career day in the second grade was quite a defining moment. This was a very difficult decision for a 7 year old, but one I finally made upon learning about the amount of math and science involved in becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Thus I became a designer. Some years passed (20 or so) before I discovered a way to merge my two passions, but once I did, I knew I would never look back. 

I started my own company after ten years in the jewelry industry in New York City. I watched many companies struggle to stay afloat by pushing Chinese factory workers as well as their own employees in the States to work beyond reasonable hours, using toxic products, and polluting the environment. I decided that I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to start a company that agreed with my values. Dana Young Jewelry's products are all made in the USA, with as much recycled metal as possible. The only overtime is my own and I contribute 10% of the company profits to animal welfare organizations.
