What is DAS?

Dead Arts Society (DAS) is a student organization focusing on producing original works of student written theatre. We are a club for actors, dancers, singers, directors, choreographers, playwrights and anybody else who has a passion for any of the performing arts. All levels of experience and majors are welcome!

With your support, we're hoping to earn enough money to pay for our performance space, as well as all the props, costumes, and other production expenses that go into making showcases a success! All your kind donations keep the showcase a free event for all students, faculty, friends, and family wishing to attend and support the cast members.

Our Spring Showcase:

With all that in mind, we hope you come check out this quarter's amazing set of student-written works:

Spring Showcase 2015: DAStruggle Is Real

WHERE: Arena Theater (Wright Hall)

WHEN: May 28 - 6-9pm
               May 29 - 6-9pm
               May 30 - 1-3pm and 6-9pm

WHAT: This quarter, we're excited to present THREE incredible one-acts, including

"Never Better" is a piece written by Leah Daugherty and directed by Kazia Hart and Adeline Xu. The premise: Jamie Magnussen is visited by PANIC, the Panel Administering New Insecurities and Confusion, and attempts to maintain her composure.

"Daddy Issues" is a piece written by Shubha Arehalli and directed by Sarah Brown and Rahi Suryawanshi. Here's the premise: It’s Father’s Day and a family reunion. But when you’re one of the many illegitimate children of Zeus, family reunions take on a whole new level of crazy. Cursed by her stepmother, Hera, and grasping for some sense of normalcy, Phoebe struggles to hold together the chaos that is her family.

"Horrors of the Female Body" is an autobiographical piece written by Deanna Siegel and directed by Deanna Siegel and Kendall Larsen about dealing with the treatment of endometriosis, relationships, American Jewish culture and womanhood. There will be music by Arcade Fire, a dance piece choreographed by the talented Isabel Fischer and even a uterus pinata!
