THE PROGRAM We are the Dawson College Commercial Photography Graduates of Spring 2013. The goal of this program is to give graduating students the technical, visual & business skills to perform commercial tasks typically done by self-employed or staff photographers in a manner that meets industry & professional standards. We have been instructed in various aspects of professional photography including advertising & editorial illustration, portraiture, catalogue photography, architectural photography, fashion photography, industrial photography & digital imaging. In courses designed to cover both theory & practice, we learned to use small & large format cameras, tungsten & electronic flash for studio or location lighting, & computer imaging software for output & media applications. Throughout the program, a mature & disciplined approach to commercial photography was emphasized & at the same time, we were encouraged to develop a personal creative vision of the world.

THE VERNISSAGE We have finally reached the culmination of all of our work – it is time to graduate, & exhibit our work to friends, fans, potential clients & buyers. We will be holding a Vernissage at Dawson College, & we are in need of contributions to further our potential for success as we head into the workforce. That is where you come in -- your money will be helping to fund our Vernissage in order to make it the most impressive visual presentation possible.

THE GOAL We have 1500$ granted to us by the college, but that only goes so far with nearly 20 graduates. We are hoping to raise a total of 6000$. This money will go to the matting & potential framing of portfolios, producing our promo book, refreshments for the exhibition, printing of posters & so on. Regardless of whether we reach our entire goal or not, the money will be going straight to the Vernissage – we will produce our exhibition in the most economical & visually inspiring manner with the funding we have. The more funding we have, the more effective our exhibit will be.

THE IMPORTANCE Some of us will soon be off to find employment in the field as assistants or employees, whereas others will be diving head first into opening their own studios & businesses. This is not the only portfolio we will ever produce, but for many of us this Vernissage is a golden opportunity to get a head start in the industry here in Montreal. The reason this Vernissage is so important is due to the fact that industry professionals will be viewing our work -- these guests may provide possible business ventures for us in the future, & we want to impress. We understand that not everyone can contribute a monetary value to our campaign -- however, you can still help by spreading the word or donating goods & services to our exhibition. We really appreciate your help!

FRANCAIS ///
