Day 3 is a short, horror film that follows Samantha Low, a down-and-out 21-year-old folksinger, as she navigates her first year as a tree-planter. She finds meaningful challenges in the work, a sense of belonging in camp, and inspiration for her music in the surrounding nature. But on the last day of the contract, when the truck gets stuck, her crew finds themselves in the grip of a terrible realization: the land is bringing something out of them. Something haunts them... hunts them.
Day 3 is about our exploitative attitudes towards nature and each other; about how the unspoken and ignored can eventually become monstrous; finally, it is about tree-planting: the epic highs and lows of a Canadian right of passage.

Day 3 is a tree-planting story made by tree-planters. It is a celebration of the struggles and joys of the job. But as an excursion into eco-horror, it also stares into the depths of our industrial wilderness, asking where this extractive relationship to nature is taking us, and what exactly it is doing to our psyche.
As a passion project among friends, Day 3 will help us in each of our respective careers. It will expand portfolios and enable future opportunities. Our primary objective is to get this film into the "Shorts to Feature" program at the Fantasia Film Festival, in order to secure funding for the feature length treatment.

Filmmaking is an expensive process. As a labor of love, this project is made possible by a group of collaborators and professionals coming together and giving it their all, no matter the pay. Passion aside, we want to respect our cast and crew for their artistry, time and energy, and want to provide proper lodging, food, and pay.
This crowdfunding campaign will be allocated exclusively to production costs.
