What's the Film About?
Noah Novak, a young, idealistic detective, wants to make a name for himself. He solves little cases around his neighborhood but it isn’t until he meets Skylar Monaghan that his world changes. They strike up a friendship, but soon Skylar is dead. It’s ruled as a suicide, but her boyfriend, Ian Ellis, doesn’t think that can be true. Noah decides he’s going to prove Ian to be right. With the help of his sister, Daphne, Noah sets out to solve the case and bring some sense of peace back to the people it has affected.
What To Know About Us
We're a group of young North Carolina filmmakers seeking to raise $70,000 for our feature film. We need this money in order to get our locations and props along with supporting our amazing cast and crew. We have been making movies together for years, but this is our first feature endeavor and we are so excited about it. We've been passionately working on the script and gathering our team for the past year and we are very grateful for any help you can offer!
Why $70,000
As stated we are looking to crowdfund $70,000 to get this project off the ground. This will enable us to pay our entire cast and crew so that they can make a livable wage. Funding will also go to paying for the locations and props we need for this picture.
Learn About The Crew
This is a very personal story for so many involved. It is a window into the high school experience of the modern day while also being a throw back to classic noir cinema. The creatives behind the project went through high school together with many experiences from life having been directly impactful on the film.
This crew has worked together in the past on several short films of the same tone but not the same subject matter. What they love to do is find the most connective way to tell a very funny and human story, something we hope everyone can relate to.
Cade Hogan (Actor/Writer/Director) - Cade Hogan is a filmmaker based out of North Carolina. He has written, directed, starred, and edited several short films with several getting into festivals.
Isaac Moore (Actor/Producer) - Isaac Moore has been a key component to most of Cade’s films. He is a skilled craftsman who has built sets and props along with acting in several of the projects.
Camilla Keil (Director of Photography) - Camilla Keil is able to bring incredible emotional depth and stylistic clarity to her work behind the camera. Her brilliant style is always evident in her work.
Joaquin Venegas (Actor/ 1st AD) - Joaquin Venegas supports the entire crew of each film he has worked on by assisting the director in key ways. He has also proven himself a very impressive character actor.
Audrey Jones (Actor/Sound Engineer) - Audrey Jones has a wide range as an actor, from the superb comic relief to the emotional heart of films. She also has a knack for capturing on set sound.
Ksenia Matveeva (Producer/Makeup Department) - Ksenia Matveeva is a celebrated makeup artist, capable of making stunning looks with a variety of techniques. She also has a background in finance and has kept many productions moving steadily.
Mia Tomasic (Lighting Technician) - Mia Tomasic is a trusted professional with the skills and knowledge to bring this vision to life! She is a great support for all facets of the filmmaking process.
Melissa Downes (Producer) - Melissa Downes has studied film at NC State University and taken that knowledge very far. She has a knack for production and has always ensured that film sets are operating at their peak.
Risks & Challenges
This is our first feature film but our projects in the past haven't been small potatoes. From lamp-shading classic 40's horror cinema to the modern mockumentary we have been able to dip our toes into many avenues of filmmaking. We have been learning all we can from these projects and we want the chance to prove ourselves fully with this feature. We have worked long hours and put in the time because this is something we all truly love.
