ABOUT THE GAME


Dead Sea is an open-world, first-person survival game.  It also contains elements of horror, adventure, and puzzle solving that creates a hardcore gaming experience.  The game is difficult but       not overkill; surviving isn’t supposed to be easy.  On your way you   will encounter many mysterious story, clues and puzzles leading       to various paths that can be explored.  Your main objective is to overcome the harsh and brutal desert.  Not only will we make a     great game, we will make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.

History of Dead Sea

My name is Mr.Warut - game designer, level designer, founder and CEO of Phoenix Studio.  We are an indie based game company located in in Bangkok, Thailand.  I have assembled a team of very talented individuals in order to transcribe our dreams, passions, and expertise into a video game that everyone can enjoy.  In 2014 we decided to pursue our project using what we do best; CryENGINE!


Beginning Stages

At first, the game was a simple simulation about how to survive in the desert. Gameplay was basic, assets and models were limited, and it was more of a hobbyist project.  Despite this, the response from Crydev and Facebook was great. This pushed us to develop Dead Sea v1.5 to see if people would show even more interest.

We've added many things since the simple simulation, such as food, deadly creatures, hurricanes, updated graphics, elements or survival horror, etc.  We reached almost 100 thousand views with Facebook, Youtube, and Steam combined.  After we officially announced the release of DeadSea on Steam, we received a very positive and anticipated response, and we were Greenlit in no time! The following graphs display the overwhelming amount of fans in such a small amount of time.  The next step is funding to make it all possible!

  • Dead Sea is a first person, non-linear, open-world game that allows the player to explore the land freely.
  • Dynamic Day/Night system that affects players directly.
  • Crafting System that allows customization of different items.                               
  • Unlock different parts of the world and upgrade your skill sets by completing quests and missions.               
  • There is no perfect armour attire, each one is specifically designed for hunting different creatures.
  • Dead Sea has one expert difficulty setting, but as you progress surviving will become a lot easier.
  • Save your progression by sleeping on the bed that is located in your camp.  You re-spawn to the nearest camp location when you die.
  • Avoid starvation by hunting different animals.  Eventually, you will acquire a skill to farm your own food.
  • One type of a vehicle will be for surfing on the windy sand tides.  You will also be able to attach a weapon in order to hunt certain creatures.

 Hot

•  This icon will appear when you after constant exposure to the sun.  Find shelter         indoors, in the shade, or by using your garments in order to cool off.

 Cold

•  This icon will appear when your body temperature begins to drop.  Cool off by           finding shelter, building a camp fire, or using garments. 

Sickness

•  This icon will appear when you have contracted some type of illness from                   different things such as unboiled water, raw food, or contaminated environments.     Ward off infection by sleeping or using herbal compounds.

 Exhaustion

•  This icon will appear when you have been awake for too long.  If you don't                     receive an adequate amount of rest you will begin to hallucinate, become                   fatigued, and eventually faint.  Fainting in the desert can be deadly due to the             harsh and unpredictable weather.

   Hunger 

•   This icon will appear when you grow hungry.  Avoid starvation by eating foods like      insects, small animals, and plant life.  Be sure to cook your meals first to avoid          food poisoning! 

Thirst

•  This icon will appear when you are thirsty and dehydrated.  Water in the desert is     scarce, don't let your eagerness make you forget to boil it before consumption!

Excretion

•  This icon will appear when it's time for bowel and bladder movement.   If you             don't listen to your body, you might rupture a vital organ and die.


Items can be stored in your backpack at anytime, different size items take up more on space on the grid.



  







Garments, Armour, and Weapons

   •  Reduce damage received from creatures and protect yourself from the harsh            weather you will experience in the desert.  Craft different weapons in order to            hunt more comfortably and efficiently. 

  • Combat System allows you to fight creatures using melee attacks or setting traps in the world.  Craft different items from the body parts of your kill.
  • Again, there is no overall best armour for hunting.  Each creature requires different tactics which requires a specific armour system.





Building and Customization

    •  Players will be able to construct a fence around their house/fort in order to                 ward off outside threats.  You will also be able to craft equipment in your                     workshop, set traps, and create save points.

  • Construct traps for capturing smaller and medium sized creatures.  There is a limit for the number of items you can carry in your backpack.

Vehicles

    •  There are different types of vehicles that will allow you to travel throughout the         desert more conveniently, instead of always having to travel on foot.  They can           also be upgraded and customized with armour.

  • In order to take down giant creatures, you will have to fight them from within the vehicle you customize.

 

The scolding heat isn’t your only concern in this world, the Creatures you will encounter are far more volatile!  Creatures will have different strengths and weaknesses, you must find the best strategy to stand your ground.  Crafting is an important part of gameplay; gather scattered items in the world, as well as animal and Creature carcasses to assemble different weapons, armour, and materials. 





  •   Personality traits will vary.  Smaller Creatures might be docile and more likely to        hide, while larger and more aggressive ones have no problem hunting you for              dinner.  This doesn’t guarantee that all smaller Creatures do not pose a threat!

  •   You will be able to see the difference between a Creature versus your typical              animal.  Both are unpredictable, and set in specific zones on the map.

  •   Each Creature has it’s own life cycle and routine.  Some can be seen during the          day, and others at night.  You may also encounter them when they grow hungry.

  •   The game contains elements of horror so players will have to elude larger, more        fierce Creatures.  Dead Sea is focused on survival, and less on one man                        obliterating monsters.

ZONE 1 - Desert

In this zone include with larg normal isolated desert and  destroyed consturction barrack, ruins that isn't meant to be here.




ZONE 2 -  Spring Fever

In this zone included sulfur well it will turn air into poison there will be carrion, corpses and creatures within unknown sizes are they.



ZONE 3 - Lava 

This is the most dangerous, unstable zone in Dead Sea.  The air is poisoned with       sulphur and other harmful gasses, the ground is flowing with molten rock, and             large creatures are more fierce than fever!

Phoenix Studio is an Indie Game Development company based in Bangkok, Thailand.  We are a group of developers, concept artists, level designers, and programmers who possess more than 5 years of experience in the game industry.


 




Dead Sea will be available on Steam as Early Access for $19.99 USD during the fall of 2015. The Game is still in development, and we need your feedback and donations in order to reach completion.  Our goal for this game is to give the players mysterious clues and puzzles, with the freedom to make decisions in a vast open world setting. We have come a very long way and plan to improve current mechanics, as well as implement many new features.  We are shooting for a full release by end of 2015.



As always, projects such as these are a risk for the artists.  But after seeing the level of interest and excitement for Dead Sea, we decided to quit our day jobs and pursue the game full time!  The funds raised will be used to employ more developers who possess the necessary skills and experience to deliver a quality prduct. Phoenix Studios is currently a small team that is based in Bangkok, Thailand, in which we hope to expand.  Our country and government are not keen on video games, and we plan to change that with the help of all our fans and supporters.  You have all given us an immense boost in motivation and confidence, and we are dedicated to producing the best possible game!

A:  Yes. We will make this a lot easier to look at in future updates. 

Q:  How will this desert be interesting and not bland or desolate?

A:  Please have a look at the world map and the different areas included. This will  a surreal, and atypical desert setting.

Q:  Will the story-line be linearx?

A:  No.  There will be different paths you can take to complete the game, through  books, photographs, letters, objects, random events, etc.

Q:  How will this game differ from games like  other survival games?
A:  Dead Sea includes the element of horror, stunning map design, massive creatures, and more in-depth survivaloptions.

Q:  Controller Support?
A:  There is no controller support but you are free to use third part mapping applications.

Q:  Oculus Rift Support?
A:  This will depend if stretch goals are reached. 

Q:  How often will we see updates?
A:  Our team is constantly working around the clock to improve small patches.Expect a big update every 3-4 month
